They were out of the Thursday special but the waiter offered us a Sunday special which was equivalent. We were a party of eight. Drink service was a little slow. They skipped my order on the first go round but made up for it on the return. Sunday special is 5oz of lobster with choice of mash, fries, or coleslaw. Hubby had fisherman's platter which is a smattering of fried options. We both liked our food. We stayed a bit long but we're not shooed out and were given bread refills without hesitation.

Gee what a great place! It's like a hide away and cosy! We went during happy hour and had drinks along with calamari! We first encountered it at a food truck mania and it was the best calamari we have found in Sacramento California USA Earth! And the happy hot price makes it even better! We Will Go Back! So if you love Calamari don't go! I don't want to go back and find its all gone! No seriously if you even think you'd like it go and try it! You will see that I'm right but it has other food available and it has to be fantastic. We sat at the Bar and the bartender was extremely pleasant and friendly! We were in Rudy's on Saturday Sept 12 about 2:00 pm Pacific Standard Time. Parking was easy and plenty of stalls. It's romantic inside and feels cosy as I said. Just go and see for yourself! The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was so I can improve it when we go for lobster!

Rudy's Hideaway is definitely hidden! Had I not seen a picture of my friend's dinner here, I most likely would have never found this place. Since then, I've been here twice; and the experiences were way different. The first time, my bf and I decided to come here for our anniversary. We made reservations and my bf apparently had special requests, which they were able to accommodate. I had the 1 lb lobster, which was $19.95 on this particular night! It is a little over $30 regularly. My bf had the prime rib with mashed potatoes and clam chowder. Our food came out in a timely fashion. The clam chowder was THE BEST I've ever had. There was crispy bacon on top! Need I say more? I had to flag my waitress down so I could add a cup of clam chowder to my meal. It was $4.95 to add it, but it's so worth it. My lobster was cooked perfectly and my bf's prime rib was huge. Everything was delicious. Our waitress was super sweet and even opened up my wet napkin for me. She definitely made our experience an even better one! On our second visit, I came with my family. I wanted to try their lobster roll, and I added a cup of clam chowder. Our waiter was nice, but I feel as if he brushed us off and didn't make us a priority because we were younger than the rest of the patrons. He was never rude to us, but I could see in his face that he was not putting in as much effort into our table as he was with other tables. My lobster roll was less than decent. I expected something much better. My lobster was cold. The fries were the best part. It was not worth $19.95. I would still recommend this place, but only for the live lobster and the clam chowder.

The wait was long and that's my sole negative. The ambience is fun and charming the staff nice and the food while on the higher end of price is worth the money. Their chocolate mousse was OMG and Christina our server was a sweetheart. Seriously go there and ask for Christina's section you won't be disappointed. We had the lobster ravioli and it was nice and tasty. This isn't a frequent location for us to visit BUT when we do it's pleasant.

This place was legit! I came on a Thursday night and had the surf and turf prime rib and lobster tail. The prime rib was juicy, tender and cooked exactly how I wanted it, medium rare. If you're eating it anymore cooked than that I feel bad for you. They took the generous piece of lobster out of the shell at the table. It tasted great along side the prime rib. The side dishes were good and the house red wasn't bad tasting. The restaurant looks like a dive bar from the outside, but once you're inside it's like an old school roadside restaurants where you might find some Italian mobsters. Located right off of Hwy 50, it's worth the trip. I will definitely be back.

A gem in hiding, indeed! Their servers are friendly, the food is plentiful, and the ambiance is great!

We celebrated my Mother's 70th Birthday yesterday at Rudy's. It's the perfect restaurant for our family. It is casual and laid back. Mom had the Prime Rib which she really enjoyed. My Dad and Sister had the Fisherman's Platter. My Sister enjoyed her meal, but my Dad's fish was tough and chewy. Our server notified the kitchen and they did replace his fish. Everybody has a bad day and it didn't have any effect on our celebration. I had the Cioppino-excellent! I had picked up a cake at Freeport Bakery and dropped it off a few hours before our reservation time. They stored it as promised and my Mother was completely shocked. The staff at Rudy's is supreme. Our server went over and beyond. They usually do not sing, but she did AND served our cake! Our glasses were never empty and the empty dishes were cleared immediately. You can bet we will be back!

My Boyfriend and I wanted to go out for a nice romantic dinner to a place we hadn't been before. I really enjoyed everything about this hidden restaurant. It had a friendly, cozy and classy feel to its atmosphere which is what we were looking for for our date night. The food was superb and the service was excellent . My experience was great, and I totally recommend u check it out! It is a Steak and lobster kind of place though, so it's not a cheap restaurant. Cheers!

We came to Rudy a few times already and let me just each time the food is amazing. I love the atmosphere of the place. Don't let the outside of the place fool you, inside is nice. We always have great service from all the staff and that is a major plus on top of great food. Price is reasonable. This is one of our favorite restaurant to come to celebrate and or just because .

I picked up the mail Friday evening and looked at my Sacramento Magazine and there was an amazing picture of the Lobster Roll at a restaurant I'd never heard of. We debated about driving out of town and made the plunge. Thankfully traffic wasn't that bad. We were shocked upon arrival. The place is huge and the parking lot is double the size of the restaurant. I couldn't believe it. I've never heard of the place. The parking lot was packed. People were walking with parties of 10 to celebrate special occasions. We walked in behind 2 women who said they made reservations and they were told there will be a bit of a wait. I was concerned we would have to go to plan B as we didn't' call ahead. Surprisingly they sat us right away. A very cozy booth walled off so it wasn't a distraction that we were only a few feet from the front door. We were served hot fresh bread and real butter while we waited. The decor was very delightful. Large fun paintings of sea life. They had a full bar in the second room. There was a third and 4th room too. The menu was a bit pricy, but not more than I expected being a sea food restaurant. If I was looking for something cheap I would have gone for tacos or Chinese. I was here for lots of seafood. When the waitress came for our drinks I whipped out my magazine and verified that the lobster roll will look like the picture. Without hesitation she said "No" and asked to borrow the magazine to show here manager. We could overhear her talking to the manager and it sounds like the magazine created their own rendition of a lobster roll as they advertised this place. Let's just say false advertising on the hand of the magazine company. I'm glad they wrote the article as that is the only reason we ventured out, but I'd suggest to the magazine company to step back as this place doesn't need their publicity. They dare doing just fine on their own. I ordered the Cioppinno for the first time in my life and my boyfriend braved it and ordered the lobster roll. Both were delicious. The Cioppinno had huge pieces of Lobster, a few big shrimp, lots of Clams and scallops, and a bunch of tiny shrimp. There was also 4 pieces of garlic bread on top. The lobster bisque was delicious and I'd order that again. They also have a great looking dessert menu. Something for everyone. If I wasn't taking home leftovers I would have indulged in the Creme Brulee. We will be back when we are ready to splurge again.

Great atmosphere ! Great service - paintings by TOMAS on the walls - cool bar. Real gem to find on my trip. Had the prime rib special and was not disappointed - stop in for dinner if not a drink!

The prices here are way too steep. The place is also so dark and dank and the place reeked with not fresh seafood. The main entrance is also a serious firehazard when people block the way in and out in the narrow corridor. I would never pay this much for lobster. This may be a good place for a fine date but your looking at 20-30$ plates.

Nice, easy atmosphere, professional service, good food. Clam chowder has great flavor and they still served it in the bread bowl even though that option isn't on the dinner menu. French dip was good the au jus was very good.

I've heard nothing but great things about Rudy's Hideaway, and I love their food truck that comes by the neighborhood once in awhile, so I knew this was the place I wanted to take my husband for his birthday. I made reservations so we were definitely greeted and seated immediately upon arrival which I appreciated. We had our daughter with us, so being in a high chair right by the kitchen was a little hard for the servers, and the traffic did make us nervous, but she did great. Rudy's offers obviously some great lobster tail, prime rib, steaks and much more. My husband decided to order the filet mignon with lobster and vegetables, I stuck with the 8 oz lobster with mashed potatoes, chicken tenders for my daughter, and we both decided to go with the clam chowder. The clam chowder, hands down, best clam chowder I've ever had, and I've had my fair share of clam chowders. They offer tons of clams and their touch of bacon is perfect! I love it so much and I get it all the time at the food trucks! Chicken tenders were good, on the menu they said the meal comes with milk or soda, but our server never asked us what she wanted, so she just got the tenders, which she didn't mind at all! My lobster and potatoes were good. Potatoes were flavorful and super creamy, lobster was just okay. Slightly chewy for my taste, but moist and good flavor. My husbands lobster was the same, and he said his filet was slightly cold, but we managed to finish our meal, and the side of "veggies" was only broccoli. By the end of our meal we definitely wanted dessert (although it wasn't offered to us, just the check), and we decided to go with, of course, the creme brûlée. It came out almost immediately with fresh strawberries and it was okay as well. The crunch of the sugar shell was perfect, but the custard was slightly too think for my taste, but good flavor. Our service was okay. Our server did check on us maybe once or twice, very little conversation and like I said earlier, didn't even offer us dessert, just offered us the check, which was kind of disappointing to me. Also, as i mentioned earlier, he didn't even ask what my daughter wanted to drink (since it came with her meal), but that's something I could've asked for had I cared, so no biggie. He placed the check swiftly on our table when he thought we were ready and quickly swiped it back up when we were ready to pay. Rare words were exchanged, but service was quick, he got everything right, so nothing to complain about, just slightly underwhelmed. Overall I would most likely come again with maybe some newbie friends who would like to give it a try, but my overall experience was a lot more underwhelming than I would have expected.

This swanky little joint has been around for over 30 yes, and for good reason. Though j would have never have known about it if it wasn't for myself getting lost trying to go rock climbing, this lobster shack is awesome! They have great affordable lunch specials, and the waitstaff is awesome! Laura, the bartender, was great, she is loved by the locals that dine there and for good reason. So personable! I had ur lobster roll lunch special with amazing waffle fries and a blue moon! I can't wait to go back for a date night!i

We came to Rudy's Hideaway for a late Mothers day dinner. The whole week before I kept going over the menu, picking and choosing different things I wanted, but the one thing that always remained the same was to have the Escargot. In the end, I decided to reserve my first taste of Escargot for an actual French restaurant (no offense Rudy's). So instead of the Escargot, what we all decided on was to try the lobster pot-stickers. We love lobster, we love pot-stickers, what could go wrong? Well nothing did go wrong. Though I wouldn't necessarily call them pot-stickers since they were more like an they were actually quite good. Stuffed with real lobster, which of course tastes, amazing, and with a drizzle of the sauce and you have one tasty bite. They only bring you five, which was a little disappointing since there was three of us, but just a small hiccup. I ordered the prime rib dip for dinner. A sandwich, sliced in half and just piled high with some good looking prime rib. A cup of Au Jus, and a cup of both creamy and minced horseradish. Plus a pretty good portion of fries. I liked to take both of the creamy and minced horseradish and spread it on my sandwich, then dip it in the Au Jus, The meat is so tender, the Au Jus so rich and then you get the heat from the Horseradish. It may make you tear a little bit, but it's very much worth it, to have the perfect sandwich bite. For dessert we went with banana cream pie. I was expecting a generous but reasonable slice of pie. What we got was what looked like half the pie, covered in whipped cream with a chocolate and caramel drizzle across. All good eating habits out the window as we chowed down on this monster. Like the lobster, the banana was so fresh. Easily enough to share with a group of three, or four, or five. Friendly service, beautiful but interesting wall art, and great smells all around, Rudy's is a place to check out.

OH. MY. GOSH. this is the best place I have ever been to, ate at and stayed at. Why, you may ask? Well, let's dive in to the wonders of Rudy's Hideaway, shall we? To start off, I'm going to talk about the food. The food was heavenly, gracious, and I kid you not, it tasted like something Jesus would make. Crab legs (Alaskan) are HUMONGOUS. IM. NOT. KIDDING. ITS GODZILLA SIZE. And it tastes like a piece of heaven. Appetizers were Yumpcious (my combination of yummy and scrumptious). And drinks were so good, i cried. Let me tell you, I would kill to keep this restaurant up and running. This place deserves 5 stars all the way through. If you want to go somewhere with your family, GO HERE. If you had a bad day, GO HERE. If you're in any situation, you better go here.

Great food and Service. Our Server was Sarah S. last visit and she did a fantastic job! The food was very good as usual. The Claim Chowder rocks. We had Filet, Prime Rib, Crab Legs, Mushroom stuffed with crab and claim chowder. All very good. Bread is very tasty too. We have had very good meals and service in the past. We enjoy sitting in the room with the Captain paintings. Thank you Sarah for the great table service.

Our family has been coming here for many, many, years now. I'm sorry it's taken me this long to write a review! Rudy's is my best friend. He know's what I like, and it's LOBSTER! He's probably the only place that I know of in Sacramento, who serves this "massive, ginormous tail, of the crustacean king!" It's not cheap either, but, it's so worth, every single bite!! It's been awhile since we last visited Rudy's, but that flame was burning once again, when my parents' last visited them. I gave them a gift card for Rudy's for Christmas and knew how much we've enjoyed them throughout the years and it was time they visit them again. Well, with that last visit, it made them recall how much we've enjoyed this place, they had a phenomenal dining experience and they wanted the family to start going back again. On our last visit, we were a party of seven. We sat in the bar until the rest of our party came. Scott, the bartender, is a very friendly, generous, and experienced bartender. Dad, who usually complains about his rum and coke, had no complaints. When the rest of our party arrived, we were seated immediately into a very noisy dining room. That's to be expected, because every single table was occupied. It got quieter once the bigger parties left. Our server, didn't catch her name, took our orders in a timely manner. Three of us ordered the prime rib(sorry, pics were shoddy), two had the King crab legs (brother opted for the crab legs because they were out of the Porterhouse), and two of us ordered the one pound lobster tail. The food came out in a more than adequate amount of time. We all received our meals simultaneously. The prime rib, has got to be one of the most generous cuts we've seen, and not a lot of "fat." None of us had any complaints. The lobster tail here at Rudy's is consistently sweet and seasoned to perfection. I am quite stingy when it comes to lobster and I may have shared only one bite, it's really, that good here! The crab legs were delicious also, not at all salty, like some places. Two of us ordered desserts, the coconut cream pie and chocolate mousse pie and coffee. I think the desserts were delish, although I was offered a few bites, just couldn't do it, after scarfing down a pound of crustacean! Where is Man v. Food? Bring it on! From the time we set foot here, to the time we left(we were some of the last diners), we had phenomenal service and impeccable food. Even the customers were friendly and happy! When we were at the bar, a couple started a random conversation about what they had for dinner and how much they enjoyed Rudy's for decades. Then, while I was waiting in line to use the restroom, a lady strikes up a conversation. She tells me it's her and hubby's first time, and how impressed they were with food. It's quite clear, why Rudy's has remained a favorite to many after decades in the restaurant industry. Oh, and also kudos to the waiter who loved to share his comical stories with us! Didn't catch his name but he was so warm and entertaining, he wasn't our waiter but he was very friendly and jovial. Can't wait to return!

Prime rib was delicious, and my husband had the king crab legs, which he loved. Drinks were good, and service was great. They even brought my husband a very delicious chocolate sundae for his birthday and we hadn't even told the waitress it was his birthday, she had just overheard us talking about it. Overall, we will definitely be back.

A group of us ate here for a birthday celebration. I've always heard about this place around the office. It was my first time here.. I must've passed by this place multiple times and never noticed it. I ordered the clam chowder bowl which was $9. Which I thought was kinda pricey.. For the size of the bread bowl. If I recall Monterey or even SF you could get a bigger bowl for the same price. But if you don't want to drive that far or if your really craving clam chowder this place will do. I love how they toasted the top part of the bread with butter and garlic. When I first walked in it was pretty dark.. Perhaps because we used the bar entrance. Walking towards the dining area it was more brighter. The decor was modern and it looks like they are transitioning towards the modern look because their was couple paintings that didn't quite match the room. Overall, I would come back to try the other dishes.

I have been going to Rudy's Hideaway for about 25 years! My entire family goes once every summer for what we call "Lobster Fest". The bread, the dirty martinis, the desserts... All amazing. The entrees are always perfectly done. The fillet mignon, the crab legs, and the best lobster I've ever tasted. It is a very cool atmosphere and everyone there is always so friendly. We love Rudy's!!

Decided to try this place for lunch. I had an amazing lobster roll, however it was a little lite on the lobster filling so I gave them 4 stars. The criscut fries were also really tasty and well seasoned. Il try the crab melt next time and compare.

We had the 18.95 one pound lobster special last night. What a huge disappointment. It was nothing like what we'd had there years ago. There was a tiny amount of lobster meat and it was undercooked. I think we made a big mistake ordering the whole lobster. Maybe ordering the lobster tail would've been better.

Absolutely worst management and front service. 5:00 reservation ended up at 6. Asked for booth away from kitchen and was shown to that table. Manager at front has incredibly rude demeanor. Food is over priced. Do not go to this restaurant EVER.....

Second time here. This recent visit was to celebrate Valentine's Day. Nice place for a good meal. First off always make reservations & I suggest online when I called they were pretty rude. When you get there you get asked to wait for your table in the lounge, which was packed both times I've gone, but has a full bar. The food is delicious. Both soups we've tried were delicious and served with fresh baked sourdough bread. The clam chowder was rich, had a bunch of clam & topped with bacon (my bfs favorite) and the lobster Bisque is buttery, with pureed pieces of lobster and has a slight kick at the end. Appetizer of prawn cocktail and calamari were both fresh tasting and filling (be careful). The main meal we have gone twice and also both get different items each time so we can try different dishes. Lobster roll is amazing and packed with lobster on a flaky roll. Filet mignon was tender and cooked just as requested. The lobster was delicious, although not as sweet or meaty as the one at Scotts, still worth the price. And the prime rib was good as expected. Our last visit was valentines day and for being so busy our server was great, just wish I remembered her name. Good place for an anniversary or special occasion or just a much needed baby free night.

2 people in our small group of 5 had the Lobster fest. Unfortunatly both had very tough Lobster. My father could not even eat his because it was so tough and when we told the waiter he made no offer to bring something else or credit the bill. Also when my father dropped his lobster fork on the floor the waiter was so polite as to pick it up but then never brought another one. The rest of us had meat and that was perfect. I have never had their seafool and after this experience most likely will not order it in the future. I was disappointed in our service and embarrased as we brought out of town guests and were trying to show off what Sacramento has to offer.

Went to dinner with a friend she kept bragging bout it so i was like, eff it lets go. The inside look nice the decor was beautiful it looked more like a art museum than a lobster house but i didnt mind. My friend kept bragging bout the lobster but she ordered a sandwich hahaha makes no sense right? I been craving prime rib so i was like, she paying? Then im getting :) prime rib for free 99 taste better than paying 30 dollars for it :) I had a few sweet and sour amarettos they weren't that strong but it was good. I did try the clam chowder as well and Omg it was good :) i tried the crab legs they were decent. Not as good as the ones from "the boiling crab" but they were alright. The service wasn't the best the waitress was kinda snobbish, over all i wouldn't mind going back and trying something different it was pretty pricey like 140.00 but the hell with it lol it was free for me :)

Another Sacramento institution finally off my checklist! My mom has been telling me for years about Rudy's and their lobstery crabby delights! Our opportunity finally arrived, and we enjoyed a late Mother's Day dinner among the crustaceans. I made a reservation for 6:00 Saturday night on OpenTable, and they honored it at 5:30 without a hitch. The restaurant is quite isolated, not sure why, so unless you live right in Rancho this is a bit of destination dining. Along with my mom's praise, my main reason for wanting to indulge at Rudy's is because it is one of very few places I have found that sells a lobster roll year round! Since the trip to Maine isn't quite in the budget right now, I score a lobster roll absolutely everywhere I can. They offer them on their lunch and dinner menus, and $18.95 may seem pricey for a simple sandwich, but you're paying for the quality meat inside, prepared a way that is tough for a hungry California girl to come by. The restaurant interior is quite large, and divided up into multiple rooms. It's obvious inside and out that this joint is OLD. The exterior is reminiscent of a neighborhood dive bar from the late 70s, and the interior is equally of a bygone era - dark wood, brass, a mostly empty lobster tank up front. Everything that says this was THE place to be 30 years ago, and the older clientele confirmed that. But - the room we were ultimately seated in had a modernized clean look. It was much brighter, and filled with colorfully wacky seafood-inspired artwork. There is still room for improvement inside, but this brighter space and more low-key vibe is definitely a better reflection of the current restaurant. We were seated at a banquette table, which was fun but the table was not large enough to accommodate the spacious seating benches, or plates for 3-4 people. Every time anything was added to the table, we had to do a little rearrangement dance, even with the (admittedly chic) salt & pepper shakers. Our server Michael was very nice, and made us feel taken care of with zero pressure. We started off with wine and beer, and their intriguing lobster potstickers. Wine glasses are small, but filled to the brim. The potstickers served their purpose in confirming to me that they weren't serving frozen food - I've gotten into arguments with managers over their gall at trying to pass clearly frozen/processed lobster ravioli as fresh & homemade. Not Rudy's - one bite into the potsticker showed glorious fresh chunks of meat! My only gripe is that the potsticker name is a bit misleading - lobster meat wrapped in a wonton wrapper and deep fried is better named a wonton or empanada. Well cooked with a tasty zingy sauce, just not what was expected from the dish's title. Finally it's lobster roll time! The sandwich is served alongside hot, fresh and perfectly seasoned steak fries, and the roll comes with a side of drawn butter to make the already indulgent sandwich even naughtier. The meat was delicious and cooked perfectly, and was heaven in every juicy bite. Again, small critiques - the sandwich roll was WAY disproportionate for the amount of lobster inside. Either get more generous with the meat, or order smaller rolls - I had to tear a good inch-long chunk of bread off to make the sandwich reasonable. There was also a leaf of lettuce in the sandwich, which did add a nice fresh lightness, but that isn't Maine authentic as the menu describes. I also stole bites of BF's prime rib dip (YUM!) and Mom's lobster ravioli - handmade fresh with a yummy creamy sauce! We brought it home with a shared slice of their banana cream pie, which was delicious. Definitely from scratch from crust to whipped cream, loaded with fresh bananas and a perfect sweetness. A total home run! 3 glasses of wine, 1 beer, 1 app, 3 entrees and 1 dessert came to $108 - a very reasonable total for a seafood dinner for three! While it is easy to nitpick little things here and the whole restaurant could use a modernization, overall I totally enjoyed my dinner here and would be stoked to return!

Been here twice. Ordered a medium rare prime rib that melted in my mouth. My boyfriend, who never eats meat that red, decided to try mine. He still talks about how good it was! The horseradish and au jus was a delicious combo to dip in. The potatoes were fantastic. We had a large group of people both times and it seemed to work out really well. It's a nice place but casual enough that you can start doing the "musical chair" thing- in which you can walk around and talk to other people at the large table and switch seats. The red meat did not sit like a rock in my stomach- as red meat tends to. I will be back to Rudy's for sure. (Probably on a Tuesday when they have their Prime Rib special).

Went there for my birthday. They renovated 10 years ago and it looks good. We had a great waiter, Andre F. They have the best clam chowder w bacon crumbles on top. I wish I had been offered a cocktail menu but the house Chardonnay was decent. Loved the Alaskan king crab legs. I liked how our waiter offered to bring me a take-out box even though I only had a little left. He threw in an extra roll in the box that had my boyfriend's prime rib so it was a little sandwich. And I got a complimentary bday mousse w candle.

A group of us met a Rudy's for a birthday celebration. The hostess was friendly and though a few of us arrived 20 minutes early, our table was readied for us right away where our attentive waiter brought cocktails and fresh warm bread. As our party trickled in, our waiter quickly greeted each couple and took cocktail orders. Dinner service: our dinner salads were mostly of iceburg lettuce and the thick slice of tomato was not quite ripe. The overcooked shrimp scampi arrived in a bowl of butter, way too much butter. The stuffed salmon was small and a bit dry arriving with an abundance of green beans, not mixed vegetales as ordered. The steaks were cooked to order and tasty. The kobe burger was yummy though we would have perferred a smaller bun. The chicken marsala were small cuts but perfect for someone with a smaller appetite. Overall, the service couldn't have been better. Our waiter was attentive and personable. We were a bit disappointed with our meals considering their prices. We won't be making it a point to return.

I had really bad experience. When I got my entrée, I thought I ordered an raw coconut. Realized it was an lobster when I got the check. And I don't even want to talk about the dessert. And the seating was very close that the customer beside my table was eating from my plate

Not my favorite. Could have been that I wasn't in the mood for fried anything.... and it was lunch time, and they didn't have the best selection for lunch that didn't require batter or oil. I ordered a chicken salad... Chicken...way too dry. Lettuce- All iceberg...way too much iceberg... AND it was rotting (brown). Cucumbers, two slices. So yea...not my fave. My husband was craving the lobster roll, and he was satisfied, but not his favorite either. Not sure I would go back...

Based on the recommendations from others, we came here for my friend's birthday a while ago, the server sat us in a pretty weird corner table that almost felt like we were sitting in a box. Anyways, the server brought out drinks for us pretty fast. Then we got a clam chowder bread bowl to share, I ordered the prime rib special and he got the lobster lunch special. I enjoyed the clam chowder, but not so impressed with my prime rib. My friend said his lobster was a little bit overcooked, and the portion size for lunch special is really small... Server was attentive and friendly, but for the prices on the menu, I'd expect to get better food.

Real quality for a fair price, a real nice 8 oz tail and prime rib dinner the other night Great service

Just had the 8oz lobster tail dinner and was very disappointed. The green garden salad was warm, the clam chowder tasted like canned campbells soup! After a long wait the lobster shows up and is luke warm, tuff and chewy. If Lobster is suppose to be their specialty beware!

Pretty busy for a Wednesday night. Party of 2 took about 15 minutes to be seated. Ambiance was pretty lively. Stuffed mushrooms were very good. Mushrooms were small and only came with 4 for such a big dish. Six would have been perfect for the price. The capers sauce was delicious. Dinner was very good as well. I had the lobster ravioli and my friend had the stuffed salmon. The ravioli was cooked just right. Pasta was soft and hot with the Alfredo sauce and the lobster stuffing was minimal but satisfying. The crab stuffing in the salmon was really good but the salmon was a bit overdone and therefore a little on the dry side. Flavor was tasty. Service was good. Waters went dry a couple times but she came by a few minutes later and had to ask if there was anything else we needed. "Just a bit more water, please." Overall, I'd come back again. Doesn't look like much on the outside but the pirate's booty is on the inside. Prices were on the higher side but there's a lot to choose from and I don't think you'll be disappointed you came. Expect around $50+ for two people with no drinks.

Okay, this is probably the smallest bar that I've ever been to, but they offer up some good happy hour (HH) deals. It ended up being worth the extra drive from my Arden area during a Friday work commute to make it before the 6pm HH cutoff. The bar has its own door to enter from the outside, yet if you use the restaurant's main door, you still have to walk through the little bar to the dining room. We managed to snag seats along the counter. The one and only table was filled with some raucous old ladies celebrating something, and the bar had a couple old guys, most likely regulars, keeping the bartender and the old ladies entertained. So not much of a diverse crowd, age-wise and ethnically, but whatever, as long as the service and food is good, and the beer is cold. Decor is old school steak and seafood restaurant, for sure (think "Cheers"). After a few minutes, the bartender came over and took our order. ervice was great, once it got going. Food came up hella quick. Two pints of Shock Top on draft, fish tacos, filet minon tacos (you mean, shredded beef?), and calamari. I believe our bill came to $25! The man enjoyed his "steak" tacos, and I thought the fish tacos were ok. The calamari strips were very tender, lightly battered, and perfectly fried. I was hoping for the rings and tentacles, but for some thick strips, they were downright enjoyable. Next time I'll have to try a cup of clam chowder, which isn't on the HH menu, but I've heard is the best around. I'll be back!

This was our first visit. Delicious food! We had the sampler and the Alaskan crab legs, plus the lobster bisque and the clam chowder. Everything was amazing. We made reservations online and were seated right away. Yes it was an expensive bill, but totally worth it for the quality and quantity of food.

I had been hearing about Rudy's Hideaway on the radio everyday on my drive to and from work for a while now. After hearing about their recent rare orange lobster resident and skimming a few reviews on Yelp we decided to have dinner there. Rudy's Hideaway is a few minutes drive from home but the sourdough rolls and hefty clam chowder are enough to get me out up and ready to go. With that said, needless to say everything else was delicious as well. We came in on a Friday night around 7:00pm and were seated right away. I was surprised to see how nicely the inside was decorated since the outside looked old and parking lot a little sketchy. Each entree came with a soup or salad and sides. I was torn between the lobster ravioli and cioppinno. The waitress said both were really good but would go with the richer, creamier lobster ravioli and sauce. So I did, with fries. My fiancé ordered the prime rib with baked potato which he really enjoyed. We had the clam chowder started with the clam chowder. Like I said above the clam chowder and sourdough rolls are enough to get me there. They were warm, soft and as Christy M. said, "impossible to resist." I think I ate 4 rolls... The clam chowder was thick, creamy and topped with real, freshly cooked, chopped bacon. Since the bacon was fresh and crispy it added sooo much more to the flavor to the chowder. I loved that the raviolis here house-made and filled with lots of lobster. There was enough lobster and sauce to compliment the pasta in a way that the lobster flavor didn't get lost. The tiger prawns were medium sized and crunchy. Overall I really enjoyed everything about this restaurant. The food and service were excellent. I can't wait to go back for happy hour or their Thursday Lobster special. Check them out and escape to Rudy's Hideaway.

I've heard great things about Rudy's, and we finally made the trek out here. We were unsure from the outside, as it looked old and not so inviting. But once we walked in, it was like a banana undressed; it was the part you really want! We walked past the lobster tank area and thought that's the orange one they are releasing to the wild. The bar area was busy, but strolled right on through to our table. We both had the clam chowder, which was really, really, really good! Creamy, chunky, and topped with real bacon, which made this a big winner. Main course I had the prime rib, and it was cooked at a perfect medium level I wanted. Tender, juicy, not overly seasoned, just wholesome MEAT! The mashed potatoes were good, but not the star of my meal, which is just fine. Fiancee had the lobster ravioli which they make in-house and my couple of bites were tasty beyond my expectations. The sauce was rich which is good, but since I had clam chowder before it, I couldn't eat too much of it. Service was really good, another server even brought us extra bread to talk to us since he thought my fiancee was a possible neighbor. By the way, the sourdough bread is really good too! All in all, great experience. If you live out in Rancho, this should be your weekly spot, ESPECIALLY since they have daily specials Sunday through Thursday. We will be back on Thursdays because as of this posting, that's their lobster night!

I have drive past rudys thousands of times and always say I really want to try that place... Today we finally tried it.... And I am amazed how amazing it was! The food was so good! I had prime rib, which was cooked to perfection and my husband had lobster and it was also perfect! We had the lobster potstickers to start with and they were the best potstickers have ever tasted! The sweet and spicy jalapeño jelly was AMAZING! I will say the absolute best part of our meal was the service! Jacquelyn was spot on, I'm EVERYTHING! She was sweet, always smiling, and smart! She absolutely made our meal the most pleasant experience.... And I am a server myself and I want to be more like her! Everything was perfect! Thank you

Stopped in here yesterday for the 1st time ever. I sat at the bar & was served by Steve. Started with a tall Heineken and decided to try the Escargot . It came served with fresh bread and breadcrumb topping. Honestly , I did not think it was any thing special. As for the Garlic : Where was it ? For nearly $11 I would have like to have tasted something. While some patrons swear by this place, I will only return for the draft Heineken. Sorry but not Impressed by Rudy's. Steve however was very nice & professional. Chk #1854

I have been driving past this place for YEARS & always thought it looked like a little shack of a dive bar. My co worker gave me a gift certificate, so I had to give it a try. First off, it WAS NOT a shack inside at all. It actually was a really nice, dark restaurant with candles on all of the tables and it was quite big. Wood paneled walls and quirky "sailor" art was everywhere. We were probably the youngest people in the place and instantly dubbed it an "old timers" club due to the fact that they average age was 50 and up. Nothing wrong with that, obviously the place must be good. My boyfriend and I had reservations at 7, but they were back up and so we were sent to the bar to wait. At about 7:30 we were sat at a very comfortable booth in the middle of the restaurant, which was a tad awkward because we had people tables on both sides of us. Sourdough bread was brought out almost immediately and our drinks followed shortly after. The waiter was really nice. All of the entrees come with a cup of clam chowder, soup or salad. We chose the chowder. It was topped with bacon bits and VERY thick and creamy. I enjoyed it, although didn't taste or see any clams in my cup, my boyfriend said they weren't in his either. Regardless, I thought it was good. I ordered the New York strip, which was cooked perfectly and the garlic mashed potatoes. He ordered the lobster ravioli. Both were very yummy. This place was not cheap by any means. Both of our meals were over $20. The bill came out to $55 and that was ONLY two entrees and 2 cokes. But it was good. It would make a good date restaurant as it was dark and easy to hold a conversation.

This place doesn't look appealing from the outside, but once you step inside, it gives you a surprise. Nicely decor, clean, and romantic ambiance...this was my second time here and my husbands first time. We started off with clam chowder which looked delicious but it was a B-. We also had the stuff crab mushroom and escargot for our appetizer which was a B-. However we both had prime rib for our entree. Tender, juicy, and flavored just right! The chef cooked it just the way we like our steak. Now that piece of meat deserves an A. This place will most definitely have us craving for it. So we will see you guys soon.

Can't believe I hadn't already reviewed Rudy's Hideaway. I'll start by saying we have loved this restaurant for 30 years. This had always been my brothers favorite and our special occasion "go-to" spot.. I hadn't been for quite some time until we went back recently. My wife was giving me a hard time about me never taking her and always talking about how good it is. We went with my brother and his wife on a dinner date recently. I had the halibut and my wife had the prime rib. Huge portions with all the fixin's. Slap my ass and call me Sally good. FYI We made a reservation for 4 and they had us seated almost exactly on time. The place was packed. I mean crowded. I expected the reservation to go out the door. I was pleasantly surprised when it didn't. This is a Highway 50 staple in the greater Sacramento area. Fantastic steak and fish house. You will not be disappointed. Make sure you make a reservation. This spot stays BUSY! West Roseville will drive across town for Rudy's.

The hubby and I first went to Rudy's for our 3rd anniversary and we're not overly impressed...fast forward sixteen years and some awesome yelp reviews later we decided to give Rudy's another try for a last minute dinner for the hubby's birthday. From the moment we walked in we were greeted with a warm friendly smile and immediately seated. Our meal began with warm crusty French bread (my weakness) followed by calamari that was honestly just right, tender not at all chewy and delicious! I chose the prime rib dip for my entree while hubby chose the 8oz lobster tail with prime rib combo. The prime rib in both meals was a perfect medium rare but hubby said the lobster tail was the overall winner of the night. We will definitely be back and hope to also track down their food truck and see what tasty treats they offer.

Visiting the area and found this little hidden gem. It was about 815pm on a Saturday night we (2 of us) entered the spot and was seated immediately. SO FIRST TIP... after rush !! We were greeted, and in a short minute we were asked for our drinks and so forth. Waitress was very attentive and genuine. Small talk and constant checking on our meal and needs. Service was awesome Cioppino and Rib eye steak was immaculately delicious. A must visit if in town. I seen by the reviews it was more good than bad and well as you all should know by now that is the beauty of yelp, and glad we gave it a shot! Just made sure we didn't get the older short haired woman as mentioned in reviews hehehe. TIP 2: Calamari and cheese bread were AMAZEBALLS!

RUDE RUDY'S!!! I have never been so offended by a restaurateur in all my life! My bf and I decided to try Rudy's Hideaway for a nice NYE dinner. I hadn't been there in years and remember really liking it, so I was excited for our 8:15 pm reservation. We showed up at 8:15 exactly and the owner himself, Steve Johnson, was checking folks in at the reservations desk. As we approached, the only greeting he gave was, "There is a SUBSTANTIAL wait. We'll find you in the lounge." I gave him our name and made our way through to the lounge. The path to the bar was standing room only, so we put put forth our most patient attitudes and ordered a couple of cocktails. Flash forward to 9:20 pm, still NOT seated, and I politely questioned the owner at the front desk again. He stated, "You're getting closer...only two parties in front of you now." When I replied understandingly with an, "OK...just checking!" His snarky reply was, "Why are you so cheerful?" Now, I remember what the restaurant industry is like from waiting tables for a few years, so I'm usually pretty nice to staff. I attributed it to a dry sense of humor and let it go. (Note: If he WAS trying to be funny, he didn't let on AT ALL that he was joking...no smile, no giggle, nothing. It just came off as him being plain rude.) A few minutes later, we were FINALLY seated. It was after 9:30 pm at this point. Our server was fairly attentive and the food was good, so we have no complaints there. We finished with our meal around 10:45 pm and started to make our way out. On the way, there is a lobster tank, so we stopped to take a look. The owner was chatting with a couple seated near the front desk, and I THOUGHT he turned to us and said, "Happy New Year!" We replied in kind and thanked him. Then, I heard him say, in a fairly loud tone, "I wasn't talking to you." His comment hadn't even registered in my head until a few minutes later. Regardless if the comment was directly at the seated party or us, it was still VERY RUDE! My bf didn't catch the comment, but once I filled him in, he scanned the room for him, but he was gone. He questioned a staff member nearby on who exactly that man was. That's when we found out that it was Steve Johnson, THE OWNER! After waiting well over an hour for a set reservation, and spending over $100 on a meal for two, I would expect MUCH better service from a restaurant staff member, let alone the OWNER! We were as patient and understanding as possible, and yet we were repaid only with rudeness. Shame on you, Steve. If you're having a bad night, then direct one of your staff to CHEERFULLY greet folks at the door and you stay in the back of the house. In my opinion, you should've been a GREAT mood, since you had a full house and were raking in the cash that night. If you were in a good mood, and just have a dry sense of humor, just know that it doesn't translate well. I refuse to spend that kind of money and time on a fine dining establishment where the owner can't even relate to his customers. At least you got the RUDE part right in the name of your place. Go get a job at Dick's Last Resort. You'll fit right in.

The reason Rudy's has been around so is the food is very good. The prime rib might be the best in Sacramento. The lobster is fairly priced and always good. Laura behind the bar is fantastic. If you haven't been to Rudy's your missing out

This place rocks. I was finally able to come to this restaurant for my dad's birthday dinner and I was pleasantly surprised. My mom had told me all kinds of stories about this place from the ambiance to the food, but my dad loves it and always insists on going back so I thought it couldn't have been that bad. We were seated in a cozy booth in the back of the restaurant which was appropriate since the place was PACKED! I figured this was a good sign. To start, I ordered a cup of the clam chowder and like others have said, it was the best clam chowder I've had in Sacramento. It was rich, creamy, and had plenty of clam to go around. For my entree, I chose the lobster ravioli. I had actually sampled this before when my mom brought it home in a to-go box so I was excited to get it fresh. I was served a decent sized portion of the ravioli and let me just say, it was VERY rich. Not to the point where I couldn't enjoy it, but the sauce combined with the lobster filling made it a very "fishy" dish. With that being said, I devoured the whole plate. None of us were in the mood for dessert after finishing our meals, but my dad was served a complimentary chocolate mousse for his birthday treat. The mousse (like the rest of the food) was also very rich but enjoyable. The service was great, the food was even better, and I can definitely say that I will be back in the future. I can see why my dad loves this place - he always wants to come when they have their steak and lobster tail special going on. Maybe I'll try that next time.

Paid good money to attend an event catered by Rudy's last Saturday...WORST Dungeness crab EVER. Might as well sucked on a cattle salt lick it was so salty - INEDIBLE. Some in our party asked about the salty crab meat and everyone was like "not my problem!" Next time I'll find out who's catering an event and pass if it's Rudy's.

Stiff drinks, luscious Lobster Tail, perfect Prime Rib, great wait staff, high quality food ...what's not to like? Dig this: My Mom and I were warmly greeted at the podium by Jennifer, she was sweet. We were comfortably seated in a dining room with walls decorated with eclectic art. Our first time here but we were at ease right off, We ordered drinks. My Mom's cocktail was a heavy hitter, so when I asked if she might replace it with a lower octane Kahlua & cream, our cool bartender did so with a smile, thank you. My daiquiri was delicious and also big time. Our tasty and potent libations immediately took the edge off a very hectic week. This would be a fun place for Happy Hour in the bar ~ stiff drinks and bar menu food, which included Fried Calamari, Filet Mignon Nachos, and more that I read but sadly forgot... OMG gotta do that soon! Fresh baked, warm sourdough bread with butter was our appetizer, the carbs are so worth it. The chunky Clam Chowder topped with crispy bacon was banging, the Green Salad so fresh and crisp, my Mom's Lobster Tail was simply epic, my Prime Rib was indeed perfect! Accompanying side dishes, baked potato and fresh large asparagus were both on point and rounded out our classic dinner experience. We thoroughly enjoyed our first visit to Rudy's, thank you to my niece Michelle H. for the recommend! Bottom line: quality fare, at fair prices, friendly atmosphere, very cool staff, not to be missed because this place is a classic, an old-school Steak & Lobster house!

I have been to Rudy's since the 70's . used to be a great place. Last time there was '06, Took my wife for her birthday tonight for something special.. They didn't even recognize her birthday, waiter was rude. Should of went to Red Lobster. Food was expensive and mediocre.. waste of time.

So. We've been wanting to try this place since moving to the area. Finally, we get the chance, and we're standing there waiting, 5-10 minutes later, not a single acknowledgement by the 3-4 employees that walked by and looked at us, and they weren't even busy... Won't be going back to even try the food.

The food is ok. But I must say that I was truly impressed with the wait staff. Tonight was extremely busy, but they made sure we had warm sourdough on the table and promptly took our order. Quite a few large parties tonight but they didn't skip a beat. We'll definitely be back. Mike was a great and courteous server. He even took a minute to talk to us about things to do nearby since we are relocating to this area.

Went for dinner last night, was supposed to be a treat. Took 40 minutes after we finished our salad and soup for our dinner to come. I was so excited about the lobster I was about to have....well it was hard on top, rubbery and only slightly warm.not the melt in your mouth lobster I expected. I've had better lobster at Sizzler! 40 minutes for bad lobster. The waiter apologized and offered to remake my dinner but warned me it would take a while. I ate oyster crackers for dinner.

Was great food, good service, in an older building. If they were going for ambiance they are off the mark a little. Is dated decor. Need to work on lobster shack look. I gave four stars for food and service. Building would only get two or three stars. I'm still gonna go back though.

Good seafood, steak, american food and very reasonable prices. Service is pretty good but waitresses can get rushed at times. All in all have never had a bad dinner here and their lobster prices cannot be beat.

I've been going to Rudy's off and on for many years. Unfortunately I will have to say my run is over. Service: The last two times we have been there we have had the same server. She is an older lady with short hair (unfortunately do not have her name). Her service is less than friendly, and down right forced. She acts like she hates her job. When we had her the first time, I felt like we were walking on egg shells to ask for anything further. The 2nd time, same thing, abrupt, cold, service. No welcoming, warm, attitude. Food: The food was mediocre, it all depends here on what you order on weather its decent, or horrible. I had shrimp scampi, husband had rib eye. I could have given someone a black eye with his steak it was so tough. Scampi was ok. We were there with two others who got lobster tails, with the tiniest baked potato you have ever seen. But this last thing is a kicker..I am a stickler for sanitation. I know that things go on in restaurants that I don't really want to know about as far as sanitation goes. I can somewhat block those things out of my mind, as long as I don't SEE anything unsanitary. In this case, this very unfriendly waitress, was packing up our leftovers and included a roll in the box. She actually picked up the rolls with her bare hands and put them in the box. We watched those same hands, pick up our dirty dishes, knives, forks, glasses etc (not just ours, the table next to us, and next to them etc)and then you use that SAME HAND to actually handle our food?????? SO GROSS!!!!! And the second sanitation issue was when she removed the lobster tail shells from their plate (which I've never seen done there before) she reached over (didn't ask) and removed the shells. But then proceeded to carry the dripping shells over the table and over to the trash can - the entire time the shells are dripping all over the floor. Just disgusting. Bottom line, I ever see someone personally touch my food with their bare hands, I'm never going back.

Unfortunately my dinner was not very good. The stuffed mushroom appetizer was outstanding so my hopes were very high for the pound of Alaskan king crab legs that were on the way. What a let down. Soggy and less than warm is not a good thing. On top of that they used ZERO seasoning in the preparation . My co-worker got a 1.5 pound main lobster and enjoyed it though. Service was very good.

Service and food are both pretty good for the money. Plenty of parking space and close to the freeway interchange. Three stars indicates I thought it was a little above average for this type of restaurant.

Best calamari in Sacramento. I've been to a lot of Happy Hours and have eaten tons of calamari. Best in Sacto has to be Rudy's Hideaway! Thick, lightly breaded and lots per order. Will be going back for sure.

Food is great! best escargot I've ever had! Dinner portions are a bit on the Small side, especially for the price. I am a only 5'4 and about 125lbs and I was wanting to order a whole other meal. Other then that food&service was fantastic

I went with a group of about 11 other ladies on a Thursday, which is lobster night.. About 4 people ordered the lobster. The rest ordered beef dishes, such as the french roll. Those who ordered the other dishes thought they were pretty good. One of the four ladies who ordered the lobster thought it was pretty good. The other three (including myself) complained about how tough the lobster tail was. It was like leather, but we chewed our way through it. I should've tried the claw first. It was tender but tasted decomposed. I took one bite, spit it out, and sent the remaining lobster back, along with the coleslaw (which was replaced by a baked potato). To my surprise, Rudy's charged me for the entire dinner. I complained to the manager, who cut my bill in half because I had eaten the shriveled tough lobster tail and the potato. He made it clear that he found my complaint unbelievable. At least I didn't get sick. Also, the service was terrible. We had to wait a long time for our meal. The place was full, but I still think the wait was unduly long.

It's just simply awesome! Got there early for happy hour at the bar then moved to the dining room for dinner. We ordered crab legs and lobster and both were terrific. Had a great server, but I can't remember her name. Everyone has been wonderful there on the 2 times I've gone.

Kinda disappointed. Server was nice, bread and chowder were amazing! Calamari was kinda weak. No steak and mash potatoes were good but the most disappointed thing was the lobster! Chewy and stringy, not at all melt in your mouth. I have sence decided that i will no longer order lobster. To over price and never all that good.

The hubby and I decided to stop at Rudy's on our way to the Folsom Zoo for their Sat happy hour (11-4). We ordered calamari ($3.75 happy hour price), fillet minon tacos ($1.99 during happy hour), a bowl of clam chowder and a bowl of chicken and rice. The calamari and soups were very good and we would def get those again. However the tacos were less desirable... They were very salty and looked like they had been sitting out for a while :( Our waitress was great!! Super friendly and on top of everything. We'll def be going back for the calamari and to try more of the menu!

Service was fine. Lobster, chowder, filet mignon, and vegetables were the quality of Red Lobster. The Lobster was dry, chewy and lukewarm. The meat was overcooked and bland. The affair cost a great deal more than my last 4-star dining experience.

We visited for the first time on Saturday night. The place was fairly busy but not overwhelmed. First let me say the waitstaff were very good. Just really nice people and great service, that was a really big plus. We chose to come here because of all the good reviews. Sadly, we did not think our food was up to par. We ordered a french dip and the captains platter (?) assorted seafood dish. The upside is we did not go away hungry...but the food was just not that great. The french dip was a good size. The meat was tender but lacked flavor. Honestly all I could taste was the charcoaled lines on the bun where they toasted it. The menu touted that it is made with prime rib (???). It was cooked "well done" and thinly shaved slices. As I said, it was tender but not much flavor. The fries were just warm..not piping hot as they should be. Maybe some seasonings and perhaps some grilled onions would improve the french dip. The seafood platter had plenty of food on it, however, we agreed most of the seafood was just a cut above Long John Silvers. There were two shrimp that were butterflied and tasted pretty good, then some calamari strips that were too thick, thus very chewy. Though the breading on the outside had a nice flavor. There was a small piece of cod which was fine, unremarkable, but fine. Then there were "scallops"....or maybe they weren't scallops at all. There was a little small piece of "scallop" inside and lots of very puffy thick ucky breading...a huge let down on the "scallop". We paid a fair price for a seafood platter...I would even be willing to pay a couple bucks more for some better quality. To be fair, it did look like some of the meals being served around us were pretty good. The prime rib looked yummy. I am not sure if I would try the place again. I'm on the fence about that. Still I thought the waitstaff did a great job....wish their level of service was everywhere. Perhaps sticking with the menu items that multiple people are raving about might be a better choice.

Took a friend here tonight for her birthday. First off I will say the decor on the inside is quite different than the outside. It was my first time here and my first thoughts upon arrival in the parking lot is that this place looks a bit rundown on the outside...but thankfully it was quite the opposite on the inside. I would highly recommend renovating the outside (or at least touching it up a bit) if this place has the money for it. Once we were actually seated (it took 3 different employees saying they would be right with us), our service was good. Our waitress was friendly, made sure everything was to our satisfaction, and checked on us an appropriate amount of times. Onto the food...my friend ordered the cioppinno, which I didn't try because honestly I'm not a huge fan of seafood (I know this place specializes in seafood, but my friend chose the place, not me), but according to her it was pretty average: nothing bad, but nothing spectacular. It came with a side of garlic mashed potatoes, which I did try, and we both agreed it was pretty average. Since I'm much more of a red meat/burger person, I tried the kobe burger. It was actually pretty good, though my bun was kinda soggy (I generally prefer a more solid/crispy bun for restaurant burgers). I would give it a 4/5. All in all, I gave this place 3/5 stars because while there was nothing really bad about our experience, I didn't feel like there was anything really special about it that really made me want to come back here, though I may give this place another chance in the future.

We went on a Thursday, the day before Valentine's. When we walked in, we waited to be shown to a table. We didn't have to wait long... But I was surprised by the employee that worked there. I don't know if he was the hostess or just a busboy. We said "two plz". He just stared, so we asked what the wait time was like? He flat out said "sit at the bar and you will get your food faster." Then proceeded to walk off leaving us standing there. Now, neither of us minded sitting at the bar or getting our food quicker. ~OK The food was good. I thought for $19.95 a whole lobster was a great deal. The daily deals are good if that is what you are craving that day. The butter dipping sauce was mediocre. Maybe I will change my rating if the next visit is better.

Rudy's hosted many family meals during my childhood, so naturally my Father hired them for my wedding. I'm glad he did! From great dinners to great catering... who knew! Yes, Rudy's does weddings! And did the best job ever! Kristina is organized, professional and super talented. She helped me build a great menu at a great price plus went to the venue in advance to preview the layout and meet with the management. She filled in all the gaps and picked up any slack. Thank you Rudy's! Now every time I enjoy your entrees I am reminded of that beautiful day! I love their Prime Rib, Lobster Ravioli and Lounge specials! Always a great choice.

We enjoyed the lobster dinner on May 25th. It was fantastic! The staff was equally great. The price was VERY reasonable for the quality of food. What a jewel. We will enjoy this place for years to come. Thank you Rudy's for a wonderful evening.

This was the best restaurant experience I've had in YEARS. I finished my meal five hours ago and still can't stop thinking about it! I came on Yelp and wondered what the hell else everybody else was talking about. Surely it had received glowing reviews, right? Well, I'm here to change that. True, I'm not exactly a high-class seafood connoisseur, but my boyfriend is (he got the lobster and steak), and I loves me some mothafuckin' crab. Maybe I'm biased because my awesome boyfriend took me here for birthday, the same boyfriend who introduced me to the joys of crab. But even the side dishes were superior to anything I've had possibly ever -- and by that I mean that they were far more than tasteless pre-entrée fillers. The clam chowder and garlic mashed potatoes made me wish I hadn't filled myself up on their bread and pasta. Not to say either were bad, because they were still ten times better than what you'd find at even the swankiest of seafood joints. I tried lobster for the first time here and was underwhelmed. My boyfriend was impressed but I thought it was chewy. I'll have to give it another try somewhere else. The crab was excellent, though I've had maybe a teeeeeny bit better at Scoma's in San Francisco. I'm not discriminating enough to care, that's for damn sure. Last but not least, the service was above and beyond the call of duty. Exceptionally quick and attentive. Unlike a lot of servers who hate their jobs, the waiters would glance at tables as they were passing by to make sure everything was in order. There was also some really neat mixed media art on the walls. Nice ambiance. All in all, it was a meal to remember. I'm still in a crab-induced coma/haze/wonderland. It was an incredible amount of quality food for the price. Definitely a special occasion place but worth a visit! A note for the wise: don't order the drinks. Tasty, but seemingly non-alcoholic and they'll rape your wallet.

I had a fantastic experience at Rudy's. No wait for a table. Service was excellent. The prawn cocktail was excellent. I ordered the "captain's cut" of prime rib. One of the best PR I ever had. Generous portion. Sides were all very good and well portioned. The only issue I had was that my water had a piece of lettuce in it. The waiter handled it immediately. Definately coming back.

Had a great dinner here last month. Boyfriend had the lobster, gave it a 7 out of 10. I had petite filet and lobster tail. I'd give this an 8 out of 10. The thing I liked the most is that no part of the meal disappointed. The shrimp cocktail and the chowder were good for appetizers. Salad fresh, bread nice and sides with dinner were good as well. Service a little slow considering we were one of the last few people in there but all in all a nice dinner in a retro atmosphere.

It's your parent's restaurant for surf and turf, but it's reasonably enjoyable for the nostalgia type look and feel (read: dated)... I'd go for the Maine lobster (not rock cod) before the Fisherman's Platter anytime (though that would not make a bad appetizer for a large group)...

Christmas Eve and no cooking at home! (again) 3rd restaurant in 3 days. I feel like the Galloping Gourmet. Very rainy evening in Sacramento, but did not want to piss off Open Table and cancel. I knew this establishement had been around a long long time. Cruised over and made it alive. Reservations for 7pm, got seated in a nice booth around 720pm. excused cuz ehhh, who cares. Noticed a woman in her 60s with purple hair at the next booth over. Interesting.A colorful evening. They had a set menu for Christmas. Lots of fish and some steak dishes. I dont east steak so that brought me to the seafood only. I choose the crab legs. It was funny to see me crack crab. I was not very graceful at this since i have only done it a few times. The legs did not crack very well for me. Salad was fresh/ Baked potatoe yummy and hot. bread delicious, butter soft. It was a plus to have some Green tea for desert. I was stuffed and did not want any pie or cheesecake. Too much food!! Fun place with some eyecatching seafaring pictures on the walls. You really dont feel like you are in Rancho Cordova.Worth trying ,worth repeating. .

We took advantage of the Thursday Lobster special. The price was reasonable and the lobster was very good. I also had a cup of the clam chowder which came with bacon. It was very good, yes I've had better, but I did enjoy it. As for desert, we hadn't seen Chocolate Mousse on a menu in a long time. It was creamy, light and had a great chocolate flavor. Our over all dinning experience was very good. Thanks.

I was pleasantly surprised with this place. It's good, casual steak and seafood dining with prices that are reasonable enough that you could dine here fairly often. I ordered the combination prime rib and 5 ounce lobster tail. The lobster tail was cooked perfectly, and the prime rib was nicely seasoned. Portions were generous. We were very happy with the meal.

We went here for my birthday. From the outside this looks like a dump but I wonder why am I seeing lots of cars outside so here we are. Man the food is good we had the crab cakes $10 for 2 (so-so), prawn cocktail $10 (not bad), clam chowder very good, lobster roll $15 i believe that was very good but really small, prime rib which was excellent. The service was not bad at all. He checked on us quite a few time the only complaint about here is the price and portion control. I excepted more food or cheaper price but hey what can you say when your restaurant has LobsterHouse in their name. Tip go to costco on Sunrise Blvd to buy the gift cards it was $75 for $100 so it helped there.

The crab legs were flaccid, the sides weren't worthy of Sizzler, and the waitress was mildly surly. Not surly and sassy like Flo, but I-can't-believe-I've-been-a-waitress-at-Rudy's-for-30-years kind of surly. I've only been to Rudy's once, but I won't be going back to see if this place is hit and miss. It wasn't terrible--it just wasn't good.

Rudy's use to be a good place for lobster and steaks, but not anymore. I had lunch there today and I am convinced it is simply a bar with food filled with afternoon drunks, horny secretaries and tired old car dealers. I had a steak sandwich and my son had roast beef dip. The steak sucked and the roast beef looked like a McDonald dollar value meal. Cokes were flat and so was our waitress! This place is really for alcoholics and not a family environment. Take your family to the nearby Spaghetti Factory or some where else. Save your money and go somewhere else because you can buy so much more at so many other good places to eat than in Rancho Cordova, CA. Later!

My wife and I took a friend to Rudy's for dinner yesterday. The service was great, the drinks were generous, and the food was wonderful. The prime rib was perfect, the rolls were wonderfully warm, the salad with house dressing was fantastic and the creme brulle (sp?) was the best. This isn't a fancy place...it's a friendly place with great food and service. No foo-foo dishes. Honest food at reasonable prices. We look forward to going again...soon.

Found myself in Fair Oaks, CA for my daughters high school graduation this past week... Stayed at the Comfort Inn next to Rudys. Curious to see the inside of this place (looks like its been standing there for many, many years) I took a seat at the bar, ordered a beer and chatted it up with woman next to me, Kelly. Ordered Chicken Marsala to go. Great! Came with good sourdough and some mashed, unpeeled red potatoes. Other menu items were steaks and seafood. Prices are kind of high. The owner was friendly and so was the bartender. If ever staying there again, Ill stop in to experience another entree... Watch out if youve been drinking because there were cops just hanging in the parking lot at closing time! Another note: If youre into strip places, theres one down the street, Centerfolds.

My husband and I went here for our 1st Year Anniversary. It was GREAT! We had dinner service, we got artichokes for an appetizer which were AWESOME, then since I love sea food I went for the lobster and my husband is a beef man so he got the prime rib. Both were excellent, the waiter over heard us taking about our anniversary so he came back with a camera, took our picture went in the back, printed it out on a Rudy's card stock and had the staff sign in!!! what a night to remember. oh I didn't even tell you the tables are very neat, the fish tanks are relaxing, and the dessert took us over the top. This place is spendy but that's what special occasions are for.

Came here last month for a birthday dinner with a large group after hearing good things. The service was great. The food, not so much. I was less than impressed with my overpriced Cioppinno. The shrimp were tiny bay shrimp, along with the scallops. The zesty tomato sauce wasn't so zesty, it was pretty bland. Overall, I was the only one who actually expressed my disappointment (but no one raved about their food either). Even though I was unsatisfied, I'd give it another chance. Possibly try the lobster next time...supposedly what they're known for. The service was great, though and the atmosphere was fun and lively. Everyone looked like they were having a great time.

OMG this place was amazing. I came here mid week for a birthday and everyone was surprised at how they remodeled the place. Outside looks like nothing Fancy but inside wow quite nice and elegant. I had the Prime Rib and Lobster with a bowl of clam chowder and let me tell you that has to be one of the best meals i have ever had. The Clam Chowder gave Monterey wharf a run for the money. I just wish it wasn't an hour away from my home. But its totally work the trip.

Stopped off at Rudy's on the way back from Red Hawk Casino. I had been here more than two years ago, and while I enjoyed the old school ambience, the prices were sky-high. But I was thirsty for a cold Coors Light so Todd and I dropped in to see what the Rudy's happy hour was all about. The lounge was somewhat busy, considering the early hour (4:30). All drafts were $2.50, beef tacos $1.99, and the calamari is $3.75. Decent food, and the prices were right. I like this place to hang out, but I can't justify spending the money on the entrees. Happy hour from 3 to 6 seems to be the way to go.

When I was growing up in the 70's, Rudy's was the place my parents would celebrate anniversaries at (while I was at home with the babysitter). Once I got older, I was allowed to come along and I relished the dark, candlelit interior and the crowd of patrons around a piano in the bar. As I was headed back up to Sacramento for the holidays with my boyfriend, I wanted to take him somewhere with character. I really didn't want some "fancy" restaurant or bistro. I've lived in SF, NY and now LA -- I can get that anywhere. I wanted something from the old days. When a steakhouse (or lobsterhouse) was about smoking, drinking, eating and darkness. This was not to be from our trip to Rudy's, though. Rudy's has remodeled in a BRIGHT, garish way. The "art" on the walls looks like it's from around 1985, yet we were told the pieces had only gone up a few months ago. The only vestige of the prior era is (possibly) the Captain's room in the bar -- tho, even that is blemished by a painting (yes, PAINTING) of Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow. My filet mignon was, however, quite well-prepared and our waiter was very personable and fun. The bartender screwed up my dirty martini the first go around (he used ORANGE-FLAVORED Belvedere in it!!!), but made a passable version as a replacement. No one had the lobster that night (we just weren't feeling it with the ridiculous new decor, I guess), but the boys had the Stuffed Salmon and spoke highly of it. The food deserves around 4 stars, but the ambience broke my heart. If you look at iconic restaurants like Peter Luger in Brooklyn and Musso and Frank in Hollywood, they've kept the same interiors for nearly 100 years. They replace the leather/vinyl in the booths, but nothing more. Rudy's should have taken inspiration from these guys -- rather than from an 80's music video.

We went here for my boyfriends 28th birthday and it was a bust! For a place that seems to specialize in seafood, it wasent that great..the lobster and prime rib were ok that my boyfriend ordered but the crab stuffed salmon that i ordered was bland and tasteless...the veggies i had on the side were more palatable then my main dish, and for the price they charge for there dishes i would expect a little better meal..Overpriced and mediocre! The service was good though and the atmosphere was decent...

My boyfriend took me here twice. I was just there last night. Both times I went, I ordered their Seafood Cioppino. MMMMMMMmmmmMMMM... I love cioppino and not many restaurants that have it on their menu knows how to make it. Rudy's Hideway sure does! I guess depending on season, you would get more of a certain kind of seafood. The first time, I got more clams and shrimp and some crab, but last night, I got hella crab! I asked for a side of plain pasta to go with it and it was perfect! My boyriend ordered the NY Steak and fried shrimp but he substituted the NY Steak with Prime Rib for no extra charge. He loved it! Before the entrees, you get a choice of salad or soup and a side of meat pasta. You get full really quick. They only reason why they got a 4 star because I ordered a rasberry ice tea and the waiter came with a cup of ice and was pouring my rasberry ice tea from a Snapple bottle! Guess how much it cost? $4.00! I can add about $2.00 and get a whole case of 6 or more. The vending machine only charge $1.50 max for that. I got ripped off big time. LOL

Rudy's is the only place I will eat Lobster. For years I have came to Sacramento on business and had to stop for dinner. I have taken friends and they have also enjoyed the restaurant. I now live in Rancho Cordova and consider Rudy's still the best. They no longer serve pasta unless requested, which I felt was a nice addition to the meal, why should I have to ask. On one occasion I was served a lobster tail that was overdone and chewy, after telling the waitstaff, I received a new tail. If you think Red Lobster is a good restaurant, don't bother going to Rudy's. Good food, great service, and best lobster tail.

We went for the Sacramento Wine & Dine event. The first course Calamari was very good. Generally I do not like calamari. Wine pairing was ok. 2nd course LOBSTER BISQUE was fabulous. 3rd course LOBSTER TAIL was on the small side and a little tough. The wine pairing on the menu was with a Barbera which would probably be better with the second option of Prime Rib.My wife pointed this out to the server and he substituted the original Chardonnay. The 4th and final course was BELGIAN CHOCOLATE MOUSSE with a pairing of imported port. This was also very good. The service was very good. I am only giving this a 3 because of the lobster (the main event). In fairness we did not request a new one and the waiter originally suggested the prime rib. We will very likely return again and pay more attention to recommendations from the staff.

Came in here a few months ago on a Thursday night for the lobster dinner. Service was impressive...friendly and attentive. Great price for such great food and generous portions! We had leftovers to take home. Try the lobster pot stickers...they're full of lobster and amazing!

I must say this place is horrible. The lobster tasted more like under cooked, luke warm chicken. I've had better seafood at Red Lobster. The interior is dreadful and overly tacky. I would not suggest this place to anyone. The price has got to be the deal breaker. Who wants to spend more than $20 on rubbery, luke warm, small lobster tails. I can not think of a redeeming quality of this place.

Their food is not consistent. The first time I went here, I had the king crab legs and it was perfectly cooked. The second time I ordered the same thing and the meat was tough and dry. It's a nice place to go for drinks and their portions are large but they charge way too much for inconsistency.

Not a bad place for a lobster dinner considering it's 3000 miles or so from Maine. The service was excellent. Our waiter was extremely efficient, pleasantly funny and kind to the children with us. But the food and surroundings were almost uniformly uninspired in every regard, although two of my dinner mates like the unusual art on the walls. It's actually hard to f**k up a boiled lobster so that part was good. The rest? Forgettable. They make you buy a whole lobster dinner for $30 bucks or so, and a la carte is only $3 less so why bother? Except the dinner accoutrements are not that great. Starts with bread and butter, then iceberg lettuce salad with hot house tomatoes and traditional glops of dressing. You can also pick chowder instead of salad, although I passed. One of my dinner mates had it and said it was too thick. (he's a chowda hound from way back, just like me). Then a pasta course - tubes of pasta with tomato sauce and shreds of parmesan - and all I could think was Why? Who needs pasta between the first course and the main boiled entree? I wanted to dig into my red crustracean and got red pasta instead. Yuck. The lobster itself was good. Boiled about right, 1.5 pounds of sweet meat. The waiter recommended the lobster tail dinner - they take it out of the shell for you. Don't bother unless you must have things easy and basically be spoon fed. There's nothing better than taking a lobster apart with your bare hands and nutcracker and fork pick, and sucking out all that succulent lobstery flavor from every single part of the beast. Feelers, claws, tail fins, lungs, abodomen, and oh yes - the tail itself. All drenched in clarified butter. To quote Rachel Ray -Yum-o! The bad thing was I think they removed the tomalley - the delicious green liver stuff - from the abdomen, probably so as not to scare anyone away. So a star off for that too. The wine was ordinary and overpriced. Didn't try the desserts, there were four and they were the expected stuff like mud pie and cheesecake. Rudy's is a traditional kind of place, a dark interior, heavy furniture, a full bar. Kind of expected Frank Sinatra to be playing, but the background music was a little more up to date. All in all, it wasn't a bad dinner for a couple of Back-Easters dying for lobsta like we had it back in Maine. It's hours later and I don't even want to wash my hands so I'll still have that good lobster smell on them.

I thought the prime rib at Henrys (Red Hawk Casino) was the best in the area. The prime rib we had at Rudys Hideaway was every bit as good at almost half the price. Rudys is known for their lobster but their prime rib and steaks are killer!

I had already sworn this place off for being overpriced, but wow have they gotten worse. 3 mixed drinks ordered had NO as in ZERO alcohol in them, the bar replaced the drinks and they then had alcohol in them. Served 2 TOTALLY CHARRED filet minons that were ordered medium rare. They actually GRILLED THEM and burnt the outside. Not the way you cook filet mignon. Not only were they burnt but this horrible sauce gravy they put on them was acidic and burnt. Returned both steaks and ordered new york strip instead. The new york strips turned up 25 mins later and they were basically flank steaks not real new york strip. Complained to the manager got the steaks taken off. If this place was ever good it isnt now and hasnt been for years STAY AWAY

Well my wife and I were plesantly surprised. On a whim, we decided to try the restuarant off of the 50 that we had passed for a dozen years. I had always invisioned the inside of this establishment to be similar to the buggy whip and the food to be of a similar nature. Not that there is anything wrong with the buggy whip, but upscale it is not. We both started with the clam chowder. Very rich and authentic recipe. My wife got the lobster and I got the large portion prime rib. I will say both were excellent. The prime rib was huge. I got the larger cut because I was hungry, but the weight of the cut was bone off. It was huge. The lobster, as you would expect was perfectly prepared. The whole meal for two was slightly over $50 bucks but we didn't drink. A dinner at Ruth's Chris or Mortons would easily double the costs. Well worth the price. I guess the restaurant had beed recently renovated so no signs of the buggy whip here. I don't know why we waited so long to try the place.

I have been coming for dinner when I visit my brother in El Dorado hills...very good food and service...it is something different than all of the boring restaurants in the area...every time we come here the place is packed (a good sign)...nice bar area..I also like that this place is a family owned business...will be coming back soon!

I ordered and received a lobster that was inedible. It fell apart like it was made of mush. When I complained to the waitress I was assured that I would get a credit the next time I visited. When I came back the owner refused to make it good and insinuated that I was trying to scam him. I'll never eat there again.

Yeah, rudy's. Yummily yum. I don't eat lobster. But I do eat Prime Rib entrees and artichoke appetizers. They make good whiskey sours, and have a decent house zin. Plus, Elvis Impersonators on Fridays after 9 PM. You really can't miss with that.

This place is old school, so going into the place I did not have high expectations, or really any expectations. Went with coworkers for lunch and it was decent. I had a crab cake sandwich and clam chowder, and it was good. I try to be a clam chowder snob, but since I have never been to Boston or New England, my attempts are lame. I thought the clam chowder was yummy, nice a thick, but like I said I am no expert. I think the bar would be a cool low key place to chill and drink something old timey.

Where do I start with Rudys. This is my boyfriend and my favorite favorite favorite place to go. As soon as we pull into the parking lot I instantly get excited. We walk through the door, and are greeted by the friendliest faces all welcoming us to the restaurant. If you want to feel like a rockstar the waiters and waitresses will do their best! When we are seated they give you the best Sourdough bread rolls ever, I always tell myself to pace myself because the food is all so yummy and in great amounts. They start off with Soup or Salad. If your a Clam Chowder fan, look no further, you will fall head over heels for their mouth watering chowder. It doesn't even need salt or pepper to add taste (which I put salt on most everything) then there is pasta served and then your main dish. I recommend the crab, the lobster, the porterhouse, the prime rib and tri-tip. It is all so delicious. They also have AMAZING garlic mash potatoes. I have never had a bad meal here. Now to talk about the staff a little, they all have the most wonderful attitudes and are more then willing to help you have the best experience there. There is a waitress by the name of Denise who we always request to have, although it would make it less of a great visit to have one of the other waiters. My boyfriend and I went on our seven year anniversary. She took our picture just to celebrate, we thought they must have a wall of patrons or something, then right before our dinner she gave us a card with our picture pasted inside saying happy anniversary. It was such a nice gesture. Then when it came to desert they gave us a free chocolate mousse to share. We left feeling so spoiled. Its a wonderful place, and I cannot say enough about it. If I could I would eat there every day!

I give this place 4 stars, because I am a crazy lobster person, and I get nostalgic over places such as Rudy's. It's similar to places back east, which cater to my grandparents' crowd. If your in the mood for an iceberg salad (which sometimes I am..) and good beer (they can mess that up) and steamed lobster' this is the place for you. The rest of the food is probably not so great, but its a fun place if you are in the mood for lobster and a throwback to the 80's.

I was eating at Rudy's before most of you were born. Like in the early 70's, and maybe in the late 60's. My Dad was an engineer at Aerojet and we'd stop there when he had a job. It was a dive at that time, and got worse. Then all of a sudden it took a turn for the better, but the prices received an increase that was off the map. Good food, decent service, but not worth the price. I give it a neutral. It's worth a try, once.

I wanted seafood for my birthday dinner. There's slim pickin's for seafood in the Rancho area. Because my go-to (or should it be "ghet-to") Red Lobster was packed, I decided to try Rudy's. I hadn't been there in years. Last time I went, it was run-down, dated, and felt like an old VFW. But it has changed! The decor is now contemporary, classy, and clean with ocean-inspired art on the walls. We were seated right away. The food was amazing. The soft, warm sourdough rolls were impossible to resist. We started with the crab cakes with roasted red pepper aioli. Delicious! We then had a cup of one of the thickest, best clam chowders I've ever had. The top was sprinkled with fresh bacon, which is even BETTER than it sounds (as a side note, I typically don't like bacon IN my chower, because it overpowers the flavor of the clams. But this was not cooked-in bacon flavor, it was fresh, crispy bacon pieces on top, so it added a yummy punch to each bite of chowder. Soooo good! By now, after multiple bread rolls, chowder, and crab cakes, we ready to call it a night. But no- out came the entrees. I went with the lobster roll. Again, the bread was a thing of beauty. Lightly toasted, crispy-on-the-ouside, buttery perfection. The chunks of lobster were lightly covered in a Cajun style seasoning, only enough to make the sweet lobster have a light, delicious flavor. My dad considers himself a fried shrimp connoisseur, which is very impressive in some parts of the world. He said these were best he'd had in years. My husband was boring and got the Kobe burger. He said it was good...but after that clam chowder nothing could compare! We were very impressed with the food and improved ambiance. This spot is back in our normal rotation!

Love Love Love Rudy's. I primarily go here for their unlimited soup and salad lunch deal - $9.95. You get all salad and soup you can eat. The cool thing is they change their soup offerings every day so I'm constantly trying new things. And of course they have their clam chowder every day. I've also eaten there burgers and sandwiches. Everything is grea

we just celebrated my wifes birthday there on Saturday night. I had made reservations for 4 , but ended up with a party of 6,and they still quickly accomidated us even though they were quite busy. every time we dine here the food and service is outstanding. couldn't ask for a better dining pleasure. 5 stars to the staff at rudys!

LOVE the artwork - many Tomas pieces, beautiful! Svc quick & friendly. Waiter at table within 2 mins of sitting down, soup immed after we ordered. Bit of a wait for entrees, was a Fri night & busy. Only neg cmt - he walked by table with hubby's empty glass on corner 3 or 4 times, didn't offer fresh drinks until he brought entrees. Food exactly as expected. We both had rib eye dinner with clam chowder to start. Chowder was delish - thick & tasty with bacon mixed in, plenty of potatoes & claims. Lobster was fine, cooked right. Steak was tender and cooked as I ordered it - medium rare. Garlic mashed potatoes were divine. Good wine list, nice choice of varietals and price points We'll definitely be back, maybe for a birthday dinner.

I used to be a regular about forever ago and just returned for lunch today. Rudy's is a classic Sacramento eating spot, not to be missed. The bar is teeny tiny for sure but the character of the patrons who clearly feel right at home is too good. The place has definitely brightened up the decor which was a nice surprise. Any place that is packed for lunch with regulars you know have been coming for years speaks for itself. THE FOOD: I'm a sucker for Crab Melts, I cannot lie. I only made it through half my sandwich after pretty much licking the cup of Clam Chowdah (ya, I was with a Bostonite). I LOVE the bits of bacon on top while my Masshole was scandalized. It was GOOD. Crab Melt comes on sourdough sliced bread with melty American Cheese. Side of fries could've been a tad crisper but I just like my fries that way. My bf had the Lobstah Ravioli. He waffled between the Lobster Roll & Ravioli, jittery that the sandwich would be puny and he'd cry. Now honestly, I'm not a big fan of pasta but the the Ravioli was kinda heavy on the cream sauce...ok, it was drowning in sauce. SERVICE: Top-notch! Always, every time. And lunch service is FAST, which is a bonus when you don't have much time. Staff is attentive, meal came out quick, dishes cleared quickly without feeling like the plate is being taken from under your nose and the tab shows up right when you're ready to go. Definitely going to reacquaint myself with Rudy's and looking forward to our next visit. Plus, Newcastle on tap!

In my 24 years of living in the Sacramento area, last Saturday was the first time I'd ever been to the place. My husband loved the place. What seafood lover wouldn't like their clam chowder, calamari, a big lobster tail and a NY? He said it was amazing. I had the filet with blue cheese crumbles on top, nice and rare. You know the rest, a baked potato and small salad. Good for a steak and seafood place. But here's why only three stars. The menu shows the various sizes of the lobster tails and the price to add a steak. The lobster was like $28.00 + $16.95 for a NY. When we got the bill, the steak was like $26.85 + $27.00 for the lobster. When I brought it to the waitress's attention, her response was "oh, I usually work the lunch crowd and wasn't familiar with the dinner menu". I pointed out to her that wasn't what we ordered and why would we order a steak dinner AND lobster dinner when there's only two of us? She just stood there and apologized but didn't fix it. The worst part is my husband is a major push over and didn't want to pursue it. Called the manager when I got home and she apologized about it and sent me a gift card for $20.00. My first trip there and this is what I got. Left a bad taste in my mouth, considering we spent $200.00 for two people.

I came here with my wife on valentines day for dinner. They setup tables every corner they can think of and stuffed couples there. The only thing I liked here is they are very welcoming and excellent service The salmon and lobster are very bland and has no taste. The brownie sundae was served with a hard brownie and whipped cream.

We took my son and his girlfriend here on a recommendation while visiting from out of town. The parking lot was crowded and the place was hopping when we arrived. The interior was tacky and dark but figured we would make the best of it, I do not see my son too often. We were seated quickly (I had a reservation) and the waitress came by fin a reasonable amount of time but I noticed she grumbled thank you under her breath every time she brought something to the table - water, bread food whatever. The more she did it the more I noticed how RUDE she was. She is an older lady with short white/grey hair (unfortunately do not have her name). Her service is less than friendly - she is just t a nasty old woman! Well, not only was the service horrible, BUT the food was even worse!! 3 of us ordered the seafood platter and my husband and I ordered a cup of the clam chowder. Campbell's Soup makes better chowder - it was grainy and tasteless. The seafood platter was a concoction of popcorn shrimp, scallops, 2 large shrimp and cod. It was greasy, rubbery, and tasteless. I got the mash potatoes which were stone cold as was my husband's baked potato. It was obvious the potatoes were waiting on the fried mess of seafood they served - how in world does a baked potato go cold??? My son ordered the mixed veggies and was served 3 pieces of broccoli. Not sure what they felt they were mixed with! His girlfriend ordered the Lobster Ravioli and I think she was just being nice and said it was ok - she ate like 2 raviolis of the 8 she was served :( I am betting they were as nasty as everything else. We spend over 100 on dinner which if the food had been decent would not have been too bad. However the food and wait staff were horrible - thank god the company and conversation were great! Next time we will be going to Cattleman's or the Spaghetti Factory - DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY! I would have given this a MINUS 5 if I could have!

Was a bit skeptical as we walked up as this place doesn't look so great from the outside. Going in, it was cute and old school and very clean. It is an older establishment but somehow didn't look or feel tired. We were pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food and really liked everything we got. We will be coming back.

After hearing so much about this place, I thought I may as well give it a try. Had the prime rib. It was good. I've had the best prime rib anywhere at a prime rib house in San Fran, so maybe I'm a little biased. But like I said it was good. The soup was tasty, as were my side dishes. My meal was good enough that I'd come back and try something else.

I am a huge fan of surf and turf and Rudy's has the best in town. I recommend going there a couple times a year. Lobster tails are huge and prime rib is to die for. If you have enough room left try out the creme brulee. Price is a little high but definitely well worth it. They just revamped the interior to a more modern look as well. Service is good and ambiance is great. Place has been there for years and has stood the test of time.

I highly recommend the Lobster Roll & the Lob Pops from The Cruzin Crustecean, Rudy's own food truck, which can be found roaming the streets in the greater Sacramento area!! The lobster tastes as fresh as can be & the customer service is very friendly, putting out a high quality product!! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE them!!

I hadn't been to Rudy's for over 10 years. Had dinner there recently and the food, service and ambiance was excellent. The steak was done exactly as I ordered it which is refreshing. The lobster bisque was very tasty but cool at the top of the cup and hot below. It may have sat for a while before being served. The only regret is that I didn't order the lobster tail which is their specialty. After I ordered, I saw the lobster tails being delivered to other customers and they looked great. I will definitely order the 8 oz lobster tail the next time.

It looks recently redecorated and very well done. I was there for a Christmas dinner, but would like to go back to look through their regular menu. Service was good, not exceptional, but not bad. Food was good. I'm not a big prime rib fan but other people enjoyed it and those that picked the chicken or salmon dinners seemed like they liked their meal. It's a little pricey for what we got but again, I'd like to go back and check out their regular menu.

Attended a crab feed at Andis Winery Saturday night catered by Rudy's Hideaway. The worst crab I've ever had, it was so salty we could not eat eat it. We were told that it had been brined in sea salt to keep it fresh. Fresh is was not! Some of the crab meat, particulartly in the body, was gray and mushy.

We came here for their midweek Thursday special which includes 1 Lb Live Maine Lobster with veggies and sourdough bread. We came around 7pm and they were out of the whole lobsters, so they substitute with a 5oz lobster tail for the same price. Glad that we ordered an extra prime rib since the 2 lobsters were small and didn't fill us up. Over all, it was a good experience. Service: -It was not crowded, so we were seated right away. Nice environment. Food: -Clam chowder was so good, one of the best i've ever had in the past. One portion is enough for 1 person. -Lobster was flavorful and tender. -Prime rib: seasoning well and also very tender. Price: Our bill was $50 for 2 lobsters and a prime rib.

Rudy's Hideaway is a local hole in the wall seafood restaurant (we live in south Rancho). It was my birthday and since we have two small children who need to get to bed at a decent hour on a weeknight I just wanted to go somewhere close, but that would be a little special for the celebration. My husband and I had just been to the Oceanaire in San Diego for our wedding anniversary earlier in the week and this place is definitely a lot lower scale than that, but the prices also reflect that. It is too pricey to me for an average meal, but if you want seafood for a decent price and you want better than Red Lobster then this is an excellent choice. We arrived a little before six on a Thursday and it was my husband, my mother and I and our two small children. The host/manager seemed a little not-so-thrilled about the small children, but he put us in a back room which kept them from bothering too many patrons. I understand, the kids can be a little obnoxious and I try to keep them well behaved as best as possible. There are three different rooms that you can be seated in. The front room is probably the most modern. We were seated in what I was calling "The Salty Seadog Room". There were lots of portraits of ship captains and even one of Jack Sparrow and, no joke, a dog in a captains uniform! Kitschy! Their special for seafood month (October) is a 1 pound live lobster with soup or salad and a side for $21.95. That's a darn good price. You also get sourdough bread brought to the table. Thursday nights of any month you can get the same lobster with just fries or coleslaw for $16.95. My boys got chicken strips and fries. They had a decent wine list as well as a full bar. I got a salad with my lobster special and I really enjoy the tangy sweet poppy seed dressing, which isn't something you can find most places. My husband got the clam chower soup and he said that it had bacon in it, which was different and tasty. For dessert we split the mud pie and chocolate mousse amongst the table. They brought out the mud pie with a candle in it for my birthday. Both items were fairly large, if a bit average in taste, but it worked well for a little birthday treat.

It's been one hour since I was told "20 minutes" by the host. It took the bartender to notice how long we had been sitting in the lounge and for him to talk to the host before we were sat. The bartenders are great though. Tip them well. One of my stars is for them. The other is for the amazing lobster bisque.

Service was good but the food was awful! We oredered the clam chowder and shared a prime rib dip sandwich. The clam chowder was the worst I've ever had, it tasted worse them Campbell's soup and was barely warm like it had been frozen and they just defrosted it. The dip sandwich was edible at best. Conclusion: two hours later I was throwing up my OVER PRICED disgusting lunch and it tasted just as worse coming up as it was going down. I am so mad that I wasted my $ here I will NEVER go back ever! Trust me when I say don't go here.

We went to Rudy's Hideaway to get an order to go. The following day we received a call from our bank because they were concerned about a possible fraud. We discovered the person who took our order not only doubled the charge, but added a $12.00 tip for themselves on an order to go. We are contacting the California Attorney General's office and the National Restaurant Association to report a fraud and we will never go to Rudy's Hideaway again.

Went in tonight for the $18.95 lobster special they offer on Thurs. nights. The food was okay, but then downhill from there. I ordered a fried shrimp dinner to go with the soup (clam chowder) and a choc. mouse dessert TOGO. The shrimp were butterflied, making them so tough and dry in the panko breading they had. Why butterfly the shrimp??? To make the dish look larger in quantity? The rice was okay, but thinking of spending $20 + on fried shrimp and choc mouse to go was sooo annoying. I have had the lobster there now twice. The first time the 5 oz. lobster tail was pretty tasteless and dry but the prime rib was good. The baked potatoes are the saving grace here and the servers, but food not so much for the price. The second time (tonight) getting the 1 lb. lobster , was better than the 5 oz. tail last time. I won't ever get fried shrimp here again! Tugboat in Carmichael has better fried shrimp than this place. I hate leaving bad reviews, esp in a nice atmosphere, but this is the worst take-out I've had in a long time. The mouse was pretty runny when I got home. I assumed it was a mouse cake....not just choc. mouse in a to-go bowl. And I did come right home with it. Well spending $70 + for 2 house vodka martinis and 1 lobster special for $18.95 (enjoyed there) and the shrimp dinner and mouse to go was not the best $ well spent. Ya live and ya learn. However, really nice staff!!! I'm from the Texas Gulf Coast and I have high expectations for seafood, esp FRIED skrimps!!!

I read some not so nice reviews and was somewhat reluctant to go as I had not been at Rudy's in years. I made reservations based on what I had personally experienced in the past and it was good, but on the way to the restaurant my car broke down on a 106 degree day. So I canceled the reservations. After AAA took care of the car I was still hungry. We went not knowing if we could get in. Luckily we got in right away. The place looked real nice with an updated atmosphere. We were seated and waited on by Jason who was extremely attentive and friendly. He brought me a delicious drink from the bar. We ordered crabcakes with a garlic aioli and I had an end cut prime rib which was served with creamed horseradish, baked potato and vegetables. The food was excellent! My wife had salmon and she loved it. I had some coffee drink called Keokee with coconut creme pie. Both were very nice. We had a great meal with great service. We are definitely going back soon for the Thursday night lobster and I am looking forward to that!

A really nice restaurant. It has an upper-midwestern supper club atmosphere so I felt right at home. The food is outstanding too! Get the clam chowder. It's some of the best I've ever had. I also liked their lobster dinner. The service is very friendly and accommodating for business lunches. I can't reccomend Rudy's enough!

I just had dinner here today 5/11/14 and the seafood was great very fresh and great quality loved it the dinner rolls were my favorite very warm and tasted great! Im very impresssed with the food here and waiters they were amazing always helping and making sure we were taken care of. However the receptionist who had a girl helping her seat people could of been more friendly and understanding and not have such a sour face! Other than that great place to have some seafood whenever you get the craving for some!

If you google Rudy's first item that comes up is a google map with a website link and a menu. Still false advertising more than 7 months later on this menu link. Still stating you can get a New York steak added to your lobster meal for 15.99. Don't go to the restraurant if you want the combo, because they don't care. Fix your google ad with map your menu is wrong. Thank god for cattlemans across the street.

Pretty impressed with the food quality of this place, I gotta say. I came here recently for the birthday dinner of a friend. He'd heard of their 1 lb Maine Lobster Special for $17, and declared that the place he wanted to eat at, so off we went. The interior was very nice, siding on elegant and fancy, which made me glad I elected for slacks and a jacket. I started with a their "Clam Chowder," which was excellent, however it must be noted that they add actual bacon chunks to the chowder, and it really adds a strong flavor of bacon that well... it's kinda cheating. I mean, obviously I'm gonna love anything bacon, who wouldn't... either way, their Clam Chowder was fantastic, and I have to recommend it. For my meal, I was feeling in the fancy sort of mood, and with the other dishes listed like their Lobster Special, Prime Rib, and so on... so I splurged a bit and went for the Filet Mignon. When we received the food, everyone dug in, and let me just say, the Filet Mignon was absolutely amazing, and cooked to a perfect rare-medium-rare. You could cut it with a fork, you could tear it apart into pieces with two forks, or you could shove the whole thing in your mouth all at once because its just that good. I had to resist the temptation to go with the latter, and instead just showed my girlfriend how it could be easily pulled apart with two forks and explained "now THAT is how it's done." BRAVO! Other meals ordered were of course the Lobster, and the Prime Rib. I thought the Prime Rib was pretty good as well (although the person who ordered it couldn't stop complaining about how much fat was still on the cut), but everyone agreed that the best meal on the table was the Filet Mignon. Hands down. It's a bit out there from where I live in Sac, but I'm sure I'll make my way down there some time. YUM!

First of all....for those of you who wrote a review and referenced Rudy's as a Fish House and your disappointment.....let me say that Rudy's doesn't advertise as a fishouse.....mearly as a lobster place. Meaning.....crustaceans. Second of all.....This is the Greater Sacramento area, people........we pretty much HAVE no fine dining in this region. Trust me on this. Anywho......After several years of not patronizing this establishment due to its poorly decorated outdoor and indoor seating, I was invited to a luncheon on 4/12/2013. They have spared no cost at the upgrades to the bathrooms and initial dining area. Looks fabulous, guys! The outside is another story....but whatever. My co-workers enjoyed discussing the art on the walls while waiting for our meals and I noticed the Caucasian crowd around me who were very well behaved -something I look for in the Sac area (safety). I ordered the shrimp scampi. What I GOT was a penne pasta dish served hot (I love my food hot) in a pool of olive oil. Last time I checked.......SS is cooked in a butter and wine base. I tasted neither. I would have asked the waitress to bring me something else, but I was in a group of 20 for the first time with new co-workers and didn't want to come across as a pain, or make my coworkers uncomfortable waiting for me. The Shrimp Scampi is mis-labeled. No flavor, and boring. All for $12.95! No soup or salad, either, kids! My boss next to me had the endless soup and salad for probably the same price. He ate maybe $2.00 worth. Being a CT native, and growing up in the Monterey Bay most of my life, I am a seafood snob -a foodie snob, period. I purposely did NOT order the lobster because I knew it wouldn't be live Maine. Im also tired of "rice pilaf" and brocolli served with anything seafood. Really? This is a mediocre restaurant with no originality in food design. I would probably go back, yes....if someone else was paying. A little pricey, BUT they have to recoup all that $$ they put into the upgrades.....I get it. I also liked the crowd. Nothing ghetto about this place.

I met up with friends after an afternoon at the aerospace museum. We managed to make it there in time to catch the happy hour (3-6PM) on a Monday evening. Since we were waiting for another friend to arrive, we had the $1.99 filet mignon taco special at the bar to stave off our hunger before dinner. Those were incredibly delicious! Worthy of a repeat sampling in the future, to be sure! The Manhattan and the Blue Hawaii cocktails that the bartender made were quite good and quite stiff. The bar itself is comfy, upbeat, and enjoyable to sit in while enjoying the drinks and the filet mignon tacos. We got a roomy booth seating for our party underneath an interesting enamel painted-on sheet metal painting with a nautical theme. Fresh, warm bread with a little bowl of butter pats appeared immediately. The bread was so warm from the oven that butter melted immediately as you spread butter. (Not sure why some people want their butter pre-warmed. It sure isn't easy to pick up with a butter knife that way.) The waiter gave us a few minutes to pore over the menu and decide on our meals. Overall, the restaurant's remodel looks great. They've achieved creating a nice atmosphere for dining that makes it a place that you want to visit again and bring more friends. The food was top notch! The bf and I ordered the 5 oz lobster tail and added a thick slice of medium-rare prime rib to share. The amount was perfect for us, They give you a couple of lemon slices to squeeze over the lobster. My tail was warm, tender, and delicious. The prime rib came out perfectly tender and juicy, served with a little horseradish sauce. [People: however you are used to ordering it,, please ~try~ the medium-rare cut. It's so tender that you might not need teeth to eat!] The garlic mashed potatoes and the green beans were wonderful complements to the meal. Other friends also ordered the lobster. One ordered the stuffed salmon. (From the rapid way it was eaten, I surmise that it was just as expertly prepared as the other food was.) Service was good, too, with the waiter checking on us periodically, yet unobtrusively, to see if we needed water or extra beverages.

First time dining at Rudy's. Made reservations and was told they were booked. 2/3 of the restaurant was empty when we arrived. The service was perfect. Both of us ordered the large Lobster dinner. Was prepared perfectly. We are a fan and will return to try some other menu items.

Eat at your own risk! I had rocks in my mashed potatoes. I told my waiter about it and was told that it was normal to have a few small rocks in the potatoes. What!! Really? I feel that one is too many. After I spoke with the waiter he avoided our table until it was time for the bill. I will never return and I told all my friends to find a better place to eat.

Went on Halloween night 2014 and were seated right away without a reservation. Bread and water delivery followed shortly and the bread was hot, fresh and delicious. We opted for the lobster pot stickers for our appetizer and they were amazing. For my main entree I ordered the Filet Mignon Felix which was the best filet I have ever had at a restaurant (I ate the entire steak with my fork - no knife required for this perfectly cooked tender baby). My wife ordered the King Crab legs and received a huge portion and they were excellent quality. We both had the garlic mashed potatoes as our side and they were fresh and yummy. Overall the service, drinks, and food were fantastic and we cannot wait to retun.

Well after years of hearing about Rudy's Hideaway Lobsterhouse my husband and I decided to give it a try over this past weekend. When we arrived we were impressed with the decor and atmosphere. We arrived about 10 minutes early to our reservation so we decided to have a drink at the bar. The drinks were great and so were the bartenders. So far so good. After waiting 40 minutes past our reservation time we were seated. We ordered crab stuffed mushrooms as an appetizer. The were good but very similar to the frozen ones I get at Costco or Trader Joe's. The clam chowder was very good, and our server Jason M. was fabulous. Can;t say enough great things about him. I ordered prime rib medium rare and my husband ordered the 8oz lobster tail. We were going to share our meals so we both got lobster and prime rib. Our food came out and we were so excited it looked fabulous. Well, my prime rib was so tough I had a hard time cutting it with the steak knife they provided for me, and it was also barely warm. The lobster tail was like eating a rubber band. I've never had such a rubbery lobster tail before in my life. Since this is a "Lobster House" we were expecting great things. We ate our meal because we were very hungry after waiting that long after our reservation time oh an our reservation was at 5:45. I decided to give desert a try and we ordered Crème brûlée. This is my all time favorite desert. I have never had a bad one until that night. It was brought to the table with a very tired looking strawberry on top and it was still frozen in the middle. Needless to say this was a very disappointing experience and one that we will not repeat. I wish it was as good as what others had told us it would be, but it was not. Maybe the regular chef was not working, I don't know and we wont be going back to find out. Not worth the $150 we spent.

We went here with my parents last night. Been here before but not in years. Waiting to be seated the bar was good, maybe a little crowded but it was a Friday night. Bread, appetizers and the main course was very good, big portions. All the food was great. I would have given five stars if not for the dull steak knives. Now looking at other reviews I can see where people think that the steak or the prime rib is just tough but really you just can't cut through with the knives that they give you.

Never judge a book by it's cover. After driving by for years I made the assumption that Rudy's was a dump. I was wrong. It is a clean establishment with a nice decor. It has character. I thought the food was fantastic. The clam chowder was heavy on potato and bacon and light on the clams, but was delicious and hearty. The lobster roll was fantastic!! It was sautéed and well seasoned and did not have the mayo sauce that you find on most rolls. Loved it!!

This place is awesome for food and service. I love crab cakes and price for lunch is okay. My husband order fisherman platter and they give lots of food. We will come back here.

The Seafood Louie I ordered consisted mostly of lettuce, a mound of tiny bay shrimp, and lots of olives. It was topped with two ridiculously skimpy slivers of lobster (I expected more from a "Lobster House"). The dish was filling, but mediocre. I will not return.

Due to a car wreck that had Sunrise Bridge blocked, my wife and I stopped in to Rudy's for a relaxing meal. We started with the crab cakes. They were very tasty, cooked properly with a great aioli. The only downside to the crab cakes were that only two are in an order. And they are quite small. Still a good appetizer but somewhat skimpy compared to other place's offerings. Next, clam chowder. Flavorful, plenty of clams and we really liked the bacon crumbles. Entrees, I ordered the Captain's cut prime rib and the Mrs. got the regular cut prime rib. Ordered both medium and that how they were prepared. The included garlic-mashed potatoes were spot-on. The au-jus included on the side seemed a little over-salted for our tastes. We did not sample any desserts. Overall we were impressed with this independent restaurant. Our server Brandy was top notch. The food portions were more than enough. We look forward to returning in the future.

I know. It's a Lobster house, however, the lamb chops were excellent! Just the right portion for me, tons of parking, friendly efficient staff I would think one would need to make reservations if you were to dine here at night as it gets pretty full.

We ate at Rudy's Hideaway because my uncle and his wife went there and they recommended it. They actually brought home an order of Rudy's prime rib and Lobster tail for me to try, the food itself was good. This was over 6 months ago On Friday 10/04/13, my girlfriend and I went to Rudy's for our anniversary and also because I noticed the Lobster rolls on their menu! I've been dying to try Lobster Rolls and figured since their aged prime rib was good last time, the lobster roll should be good too! When we got there, the restaurant had a wait time of about 25 minutes or so, which wasn't bad considering they were pretty full (which I took as a good sign). We sat at the bar for a couple of drinks; the bartender seemed a little irritated and wasn't too friendly when I asked for drink recommendations, so my girlfriend just ordered a Vodka Cranberry and I had a rum and coke. I wasn't too irked by his unfriendliness because I figured it was a Friday night and the guy was probably dealing with drunk people all night... not a big deal. We were seated in a booth fit for two people, and were provided dinner menus and a wine list. Our waitress, Jean, came over to great us and brought our waters. I observed her greet a couple at a table near us and she seemed quite nice. She asked how their night was, if they'd like any refills on their cocktails, if they'd like any bread, and even made some recommendations on dishes they had. I thought to myself; wow she seems pretty good! But I was wrong. We looked over the menu and decided on their crab stuffed mushroom as appetizers, their captain's cut prime rib with clam chowder and the lobster roll for our dinner entrees. We waited...for about 15 minutes. I noticed she went up to other tables throughout her sections, again checking up on the couple near our table, but did not stop by ours. When she finally did come back, we placed our orders and had to ask for the bread that everyone else seemed to have. She didn't make any recommendations or even tried to make small talk to make us feel more welcomed. She took our order and left. Our cocktails were done, she did not ask us if we would like to order any others. It took about 20 minutes for Jean to bring out our crab stuffed mushrooms appetizers. The clam chowder came after. We practically inhaled our food at this point because we were so hungry. Jean came, didn't ask how our soup and appetizer was, and just picked up the empty soup bowl and appetizer dish and walked away. At this point I was irritated. The worst part of this dinner was when she came back to bring us our entrees, which took another 15 minutes after she picked up the plates. She brought two items; my prime rib with mashed potatoes and a LOBSTER RAVIOLI. We ordered a Lobster Roll and the prime rib, she got the order wrong and at this point we were fed up. What pushed me over the edge was that she wasn't even apologetic for making the error, she simply said "I can have them remake this" and when my girlfriend said no she just said "well okay up to you" and walked away. When we were done with the meal, I used my credit card to pay the tab. She took the tab and a few minutes later, came back and asked me "did you leave a card in here because I didn't find anything". I was getting ready to flip out if she really lost my card. I told her I did put in my chase card in the card slot, she retraced her steps and came back and said I found the card...in the slot of the tab. She my blue card just blended in with the color of the tab and laughed; I was not amused. Over the course of two hours of us being in the restaurant, our waitress did not refill our water once, did not ask if we needed any other cocktails, did not ask if we would like any more bread or anything of the sort, did not apologize for getting the order wrong, and did not make us feel like deserving customers. There are only two restaurants that I wouldn't go back to; Johnny Carino's and now, Rudy's Hideaway. I would hate to think that race had anything to do with the service we received, but the couple at the table near us was Caucasian; so was Jean. We are Asian.

We had a special 40th and really enjoyed the service tonight. My husband had the 1 lb. Lobster of which he said was tuff and the sourdough bread was dry. As for me I ordered the prime rib dinner. I wish to say it was the best have ever had and tasted. The meat was melt in your mouth perfection! Forget the sea food prime rib is the leader here. And for dessert he had banana cream pie and I chose a piece of coconut cream pie... Yum yum! We enjoyed our outing and next time it will be the prime rib for two.

I'm writing this as we are here. 9/11/12 7:56pm I've been here twice, this is the second time. The first time I had the unlimited soup and salad for lunch which was great! The lobster bisque is amazing but can't compete with the clam chowder topped with bacon. I usually don't like to call people out so I'm not going to say our waitress name. She was polite but not really friendly if you know what I mean but that was my only problem with her, just seem like she didn't want to serve us or be there. I order the lobster ravioli and my bf ordered the porter house and we had the escargot for appetizer. Escargot: baked on top of mushrooms and sprinkled with I think bread crumbs. It was okay... Not that much flavor but def should give it a try. Lobster ravioli: the sauce was way too garlicky. The ravioli were good but the sauce ruined it. Porter house: cooked nicely medium but a little too on the rare side which my bf was afraid to eat too much of it. It was also topped off with mushrooms which he didn't care for. My experiences here has been decent. Definitely would come back for the unlimited soup and salad for lunch.

I made a reservation the morning of my date night. They sat us right next to the front door, which having a reservation I didn't expect such a terrible table. The service was slow. I ordered a mixed drink before our dinner arrived and she didn't bring it to me until after I finished my meal. For how expensive our meal was for crab and lobster it was bland and lacked any sort of flavor. Over all I will never be back to this restaurant.

We waited 15 minutes after being seated for the waitress to take our drink order. The place was 30% of capacity. The lobster bisque was canned soup, at best. If you are going to talk up your special Friday bisque, at least make it with cream and leave out all the corn starch. The lobster was cooked properly and was the reason I gave 2 stars, everything else was hospital food.

This is a nice little place tucked away in such a random location. I've been here about 4 times, they're pricy, and once my fiance complained that her salmon was bland, I always thought the food ok, not amazing, but ok. They have a good selection of seafood, feels very cozy inside as well. If you haven't tried it you should, that's what I'd say.

Ok, this place looks crusty on the outside but the clam chowder is better than what you can get in SF!!! Sooo good. I came here almost by accident when I could not get a table at Joe's Crab Shack. I think they also have a food truck that is part of the sactomofo. The murals inside are gorgeous and the crab legs also are delicious. Highly recommend!

I find such joy in spreading the word about places that make me happy. However, occasionally, I need to speak my mind about those that really disappoint. The real pro was that my friend and I were able to locate a table, about an hour before dinner, on Valentines Day weekend. The con, we weren't the only ones. The gentleman who took our name was aware and a little annoyed with this as well. We ended up waiting about 1/2 hour at the bar where I enjoyed a kind of tasteless Manhattan. The hostess was a delight! She was funny, she was spunky, and gave me the impression that I was in for a real treat. She was the high point of our experience, sadly. Our waitress was polite, and provided sufficient service. The food is the issue. The prices were pushing $20 a plate, which I equated to larger portions and delicious plates. Silly me. I ordered the stuffed salmon and he ordered the lobster ravioli. For starters, I had the salad which tasted and looked a lot like no effort was placed into it. Salad and dressing. Store bought. Yum. Our entrees took a ridicously long time. They must be preparing everything from scratch, I thought. However, when my barely warm stuffed salmon was brought out, I found this wasn't the case. This meal had reheating a pre-made dish from Costco written all over it. My salmon was not quite the size of an iPhone and tasted anything but fresh. The stuffed portion had the texture of something that had been cooked, but sat out for a brief period of time. Despite all this, I was so hungry by the time we were served that I let it pass. The lobster ravioli was surprisingly better, but wasn't very warm and also had that store bought appeal. Um, yum again? I am thrilled that we got a table that night, but I'm certain I won't be running to dinner there again.

Excellent service: attentive but not hovering! All the servers and the bus boys were great! Food was very good and reasonably priced. I had the lobster cioppino and my husband had the prime rib and both were very good and very filling. Good portions and very well prepared. The homemade chocolate mousse is exceptional and will easily feed two (maybe four!): I've made it from scratch at home and this is easily better than anything I've managed. Well with putting on your list if you are nearby!

Ok so if you want the absolute WORSE service and the WORSE food ever....THIS IS YOUR PLACE!!! I got the recommendation from a local hotel so I decided to check it out for my mans birthday. We went during lunch time and there was only people there at the bar. But we were set in the back dining room where there was no one eating. Our waitress was nice but not attentive at all except to the old truckers at the bar. Since it wasn't busy I felt there should have been a little more attention. We ordered soup and it was ok not spectacular but ok enough to eat. Now I didn't expect the next round of food to be as gross as it was because I had heard all good things about this place. We ordered lobster and fried shrimp with clams. My man attempted to eat his lobster but had to use a knife to try to cut the tail to get a piece but picked it up to bite it. It was so tough!!!! Omg!!!! Two bites later he puked in the lobster bowl very bad. The waitress walks up mid puke and says does he want to order something different? REALLY???? WOW I'm thinking bring him some water and napkins because you have PUKE everywhere. Seeming that my appetite was gone I asked for my food to go. But let me mention my shrimp was fried too hard and so was my clams. Total disaster. As the waiter was pushy on us ordering more food I kept asking for a to go box. She brought it and stuck her fingers in my food to take the greenery off my plate. I was so pissed off I said nothing. We left 45 minutes later so disappointed and sick. Him from the lobster and myself from disbelief. If you want to waste money, get sick, and have the waitress pick her nasty fingers in your food go here...GOOD LUCK!!!!

Tonight was my second visit in three days. The first trip was with a party of 11 people without reservations. The host was none too gracious, and even though the place was not busy, we waiting about half an hour. I was very impressed with the clam chowder. It is a light frothy texture, very creamy and topped with crisp bacon and a dash of fresh black pepper. The rest of the meal was so-so. But tongjpht I was hungry and remembered that great chowder. Two of us headed back for a big bowl of that amazing creamy rich chowder and a shared plate of amazing lobster ravioli. Our waiter, Grady, was efficient and knowledgable and more than made up for the lackluster greeting we recieved on both of our visits.

We came here for lunch. Food: Clam chowder was decent, not the best but not the worst I've had either. Lobster ravioli had the heaviest, thickest, and tasteless 'lobster' cream sauce ever. I felt like I was eating straight up butter. There were four ( I think?) 2x2 sized raviolis stuffed with something mealy and bland. Seafood Louie came out of a can/ bag, quite literally. I have no words for my disappointment in this dish. We paid $20 for lettuce with a some tomatoes, olives, and a tablespoon of crab meat. Service: Fast and attentive. It's their redeeming factor +1 star. Price: Nope. If lunch isn't worth it, I can't imagine why dinner would be better.

I have been going to Rudy's for many years, the last time we went : we could have gotten better food at Long John's silvers. The service was horrible and the food was even worse!! I had been looking forward to going out for our 25th wedding anniversary We will NEVER go back there again! If you want this kind of food go to long Johns Silvers.. They now serve lobster bites on their menu. It was almost as good as Rudy's and you get more food! When the real Rudy's ran the restaurant the food was great and you always got plenty of food an it was served in courses. Now if you if you ask for a ext re dinner roll they asst as if it would put them out of business. Check out the menu before you go... Then go somewhere else!!! You" be much happier! Maybe their chef was in training (or stoned) but the whole experience sucked!!!

Rudy's is one of my favorite restaurants. I've been going there for years. Great lunches and dinners. I just wish I worked closer so I could continue to have lunch there 2-3 times a week like I used to. The staff is so friendly, it's like Cheers everytime I go in there.

First off wanna say what a great place this is......We went on Thursday night which is Lobster special night which we both had and it was awesome and the waitress give us the best service .......BUT we decided to take our own bottle of wine the find out that the corkage fee was $15 I don't mind paying a fee but 15 bucks is ridicules and then we paid the bill with a card and we always leave cash for a tip so the waitress gets it then only to see on my bank account that they added a tip on my bill....since when do you add a tip for two people on a $75 bill??? to say the least we are NOT happy about that

My husband and I finally checked this place out and we're not disappointed! We enjoyed the escargot and the seafood salad was very fresh. When our 3 month old son got fussy during our meal the owner and head chef came over and took the baby to see the lobster tank so my husband and I could finish our lunch!! Now that's service!! This is our new go to place for steak and seafood!

Tried the prime rib special. AWESOME! Good size, great taste and flavors! And a price that doesn't break the bank. Drinks are still small and weak...and expensive so I'll stick to wine or beer. Service is friendly and top notch.

We had a reservation at 7pm on a Saturday. At 8:00pm we were still waiting in the bar for a table. Horrible service and we hadn't even eaten yet. The manager (?) walked by us at least a dozen times without even glancing our way. Not sure who owns this place but they need a serious overhaul in the management department. The food was mediocre to say the least. If you have other options go somewhere else.

Went at 11:15a for lunch today, which is a Thursday. I looooove lobster. Service and customer service were good. Restaurant is nice and clean on the inside. I ordered a cup of clam chowder and the 5oz lobster tail with rice pilaf and green beans. Clam chowder was good but as another review said, it has bacon on top so they kinda cheat a bit but it is tasty. It did need salt but I resisted adding any. Lobster tail was okay... it was moist but a little flavorless. Pilaf had a chunk of bouillon in it so I basically ate a pellet of salt, which was not appetizing. Bread was warm but so-so, nothing special about the taste. I didn't need it. Green beans were oily.. Overall, meal was not bad. Call me cheap, but for $25 plus tip at lunch, I need a bit more wow (maybe better quality lobster tails and better sides). I would be willing to come back to try a whole lobster though. Service was good, the hostess and my waitress were quite pleasant.

I had not been to Rudy's for several years and recently met a friend for lunch there. I was very pleased to see the Beautiful renovations they have done to the interior - very inviting and comfortable atmosphere AND the Food - Service FANTASTIC!!! Wow, great specials. I love Thursday night's 1 pound Maine Lobster for $16.95! There was enough food to take home! My husband had the lobster ravioli and loved it. The service was quick and the staff was friendly. The place was spotless, just a little dim in places. We had a drink at the bar while waiting on the rest of our party to arrive. We had no trouble getting our drinks quickly, and they had everything we wanted. I'd been here a very long time ago, and liked it then. I don't think I'll wait that long to go back this time. I love this place!

Escargot $7.95 Shirley Temple $2.49 Calamari $7.50 Prime Rib Captain's Cut $25.95 King Crab Legs $26.95 Ravioli $19.95 Fried Shrimp Kids $10.95 Porterhouse $28.95 Lobster Tail 8 oz. $29.95 Corn Dog Kids $6.95 Cheese Burger Kids $6.95 Most dishes come with a soup or salad & other stuff, so it's not a la carte..you do get a great portion of food for your $. Wish I can say I remember how my meal was or exactly what I ate when I was here but I can't. That says something. What I DO remember is how nice it looked inside. From the outside you totally wouldn't think it looked llike that. It's so modern & renovated..now if only the food was as memorable it would be our go to spot for dinner that's hearty portioned. That it was for sure-hearty portions. They do have deals on the different days of the week, gotta call & ask ahead of time what they are. Service was memorable too. They got that on point. Would I go again? No..unless I had to for a bday. Its too bad too cuz with service & the nice restaurant they have such good selling points. Note to the chefs..get w/ the food ppl!

Rudy's Hideaway Lobsterhouse is off the Hazel exit of 50. It looks like a shanty cabin on the outside and when you walk in-- the decor is not what you would expect. It didn't match the exterior to me but well enough. It wasn't very cool-modern.. it's like your mom's attempt at modern. It's amusing and enjoyable. We were seated in a booth for lunch. The table was cool because it was a glass top and underneath were pictures and shells covered in real sand. Upbeat oldies played. Our server was attentive and nice. She brought us sourdough bread and butter in a basket. For an appetizer, we had the lobster potstickers ($11.95). It came with incredible sauce.. It was sweet and spicy chili sauce with jalapenos and if there was a spoon on the table, I could have spoon fed myself it. Sounds gross to do it, but it was that good. For lunch, I ordered the lobster tail ($17.95) and when it came the server removed the shell in front of me before she served it. It came with warm butter, green beans, and rice. For dessert, they have a good selection of creme brulee, mud pie, cheese cake, etc.. but, I had my heart set on something key-lime, which they didn't have so that was it. Food and service was great. The place is nice. 4 stars.

Was back at Rudy's today for lunch. Only thing I can say here is "They do good work"! Had a cup of Boston Clam Chowder, and being from Boston, I know the difference. Very nicely done! Also had the Pasta Jambalaya. It's a "seafood" place....but they can do a cajun spice just right! so if you don't think your seafood has enough taste....get them to add some jambalaya sauce to it....that will fix it. Service was excellent. Prices are very reasonable. I'll be back again.

In my first review of Rudy's I gave this restaurant 4 stars. After four special occasion visits however, I have a totally different opinion of it. A few weeks ago my husband and I came here to celebrate a birthday. First of all we were seated by a loud group of diners discussing topics such as vomit. Then we ordered our meals. I had the chicken piccata and my husband had surf and turf. We both loved the rolls and clam chowder, but when we got our main courses we were not satisfied. Although I liked the wine and mushroom sauce on my chicken the chicken itself was not plump and flavorful but chewy and flat instead. My husband loved his 8 ounce lobster tail but could not even eat his steak. He asked for it to be served medium well but it was served very rare and bloody . I felt bad he didn't enjoy his bday meal. We complained to our waitress and she did not compensate us in any way. She also did not refill our drinks or check on us very often, either. In fact, I had told the restaurant ahead of time we would be there for a bday and they had promised to bring a dessert at the end of the meal. They delivered on this but only after I reminded them in front of my husband. In conclusion , I would only come here for seafood: clam chowder, crab legs, or lobster. It is very expensive and for the price I will go back to an old favorite, Outback Steakhouse and have a more reliable dining experience.

From the time we arrived till we left we were treated with awesome service. Our waitress Megan was everything you could ask for. Timely, suggestive and friendly. No hard sell but had good recommendations . Food was served timely, hot and with good presentation. The 4 of us all ordered something different and each enjoyed their meal. My mother-in-law order the lobster ravioli which is as good as advertised evidently. The wife ordered the prime rib which I helped with and was thoroughly pleased with. I ordered the Live Maine lobster and really enjoyed it too. The one thing that we were also impressed with was that the side dishes, soups, salads and appetizers were very good. It seems that sometimes these pricey restaurants focus on the main dish and pay little attention to the sides. Starting with fresh hot sourdough bread, the salads with house made dressings, clam chowder with real homemade bacon bits, it was obvious that RHL's focus is on the entire meal. Also, even though you can't tell from the outside, the interior has a very upscale, homey atmosphere. Enjoyed all the ocean artifacts and the tables were a conversation piece on their own. We will definitely be coming back!!!

Came here a while back for "date night" (because I'm worth it).. At first I wasn't too sure what to expect, because on the outside, the place looked a little run down and I was dressed up. But hey, you don't judge a book by its cover, right? Right. We walk in, and the whole mood changes. All of a sudden its clean, comfortable and romantic. Ahhh. There we go! We were seated in a semi-private booth, with lots of things to look at. The plus one wasn't boring, I just like to look around. We ordered the clam chowder, which was amazing... (Not going to go as far to say it's the best I've ever had. But I think I would consider it a runner-up) We also ordered the stuffed mushrooms for appetizers.. Those little suckers did not last near long enough. If they made an entree plate filled with the stuffed mushrooms, I wouldn't even have to think twice about what I would order. I got an assorted plate of seafoods.. Wish I hadn't though, because I hadn't realized they would be fried. Oh well, now I know. He got the nightly special, which was a prime rib.. I definitely wished I had gotten that, and he did as well because I kept stealing bites off his plate haha. The service was good, she was attentive, but left us alone enough where we could enjoy each other's company. I will probably come back..

I have been eating here since I was a child; we'll just say 40 yrs ago. When my dad used 2 work @ Aerjot back in the 50 & 60's, he said that was the.watering hole 4 the employees when they got off work. When I started going there on my dates, they used 2 do it Italian style. Soup, salad & antipastos were included in the meal. Unfortanely, those classic dining styles r long gone:( my parents took there 4 my bday dinner last week. The night was ok but I didn't leave w/a smile & crave more. I started w/their clam chowder. It was perfect & I would highly recommend it. Then came the appetizer of escargot. It was the WORST I've ever had. They were stuffed in mushrooms & I actually dissected one of the to see if there WAS a snail inside. I found a little tiny one, so I'm guessing they took one snail, chopped it into pieces 4 the 6 mushrooms. I order salmon stuffed w/crab. Very blah & ordinary. Fortunately, I asked 4 a side of the spiced Alfredo sauce that was served another meal. It greatly improved it. Our female server seemed 2 have a bad day. She did the basic service but was grumpy the whole time. She acted as tho we were inconveniencing her. Also, my stepmom said her marsala chicken was.t very good

Rudy's is a consistent favorite for my boyfriend and I. In fact, it was where he took me on our first date and every year since on our anniversary. The service has always been excellent for us - attentive servers who are helpful and patient with us. We enjoy leisurely meals and never feel pressured to leave. Our absolute favorite is their clam chowder. I don't even like clam chowder (usually) but I love theirs! For a main course I usually get the filet and my boyfriend's choice varies. Their desserts are killer too! Banana cream pie? I think so! Their lunch menu is perfect when we want something yummy and high quality on a budget.

I've been coming here for years. The food hasn't got better, nor has it gotten worse, which is my book is alright. Most of all, the customer service is always great. The owners of this place are just great people if and whenever you get to talk to them. Now as for the food, I've only had there burgers, sandwiches, and their Rudy's Cut steak. I know I know, what y'all are thinking. You haven't tried the Lobster? As for the food I have tried, it's always been good. Large portions at a decent cost. If you care for the lobster, there is a tank as you walk into this establishment to see which little bugger you'd late to ingest. The decor isn't too much to scream about. It's a square building, with I think a window. Actually, I don't think there are any windows to this place. But if I want to go to a place for it's decor, I'd go to a Centerfold's down the street. Then again, I'm hear for the food. They have a full bar, with some bar seating to the side. There is also an outdoor patio area for catered events. I've heard bands play there before on events. There is parking like you wouldn't believe here. So bring all the family and friends. All in all, great place to visit. It's a non-chained restaurant, so come on out and support the locals. Pros: Food Customer Service Cons: You stare at the poor lobsters eyes you are going to consume.

I had the Lobster Bisque the other day and it was awesome. My coworker had the chicken soup and she said that it was the best...it was spicy and she liked it like that!! Would be trying the rest of the items on their menu.

I'd really give this place 3.5 stars but I'll round up. The fam made reservations at Rudy's for my grandma's birthday to fulfill her birthday request for cioppino! We were in on a Thursday which happens to be Lobsternight (1 lb. Maine lobster + sides for around $16) and the majority of us ended up with lobster dishes. Grandma ended up with the lobster ravioli (instead of her cioppino) and loved her order. My food was good -- not over-the-top spectacular, but definitely good. The service was definitely top-notch though. Our waiter was attentive, but not annoying and the entire staff was incredibly friendly. I do find the menu a touch overpriced for what it is (the food, the place, etc.), but some of the specials are pretty on point. Side note: the crab-stuffed mushroom appetizer is amazing! Maybe the best thing we had all night.

Was able to get a reservation a mere 25 minutes prior. The outside looked like the place had some "character" (later told it's been there since at leat the 70's). Inside was beautiful. Service was perfect. The ladies with me enjoyed their Sunday special lobster tail dinners. My crab stuffed salmon was great!!

Went there on Friday evening 2/08/13 with a party of 12 consisting of family. Wasn't even crowded for a Friday Night. Had the Crab Stuffed Mushrooms, Crab Cakes and the Steamed Clams for appetizers. They were all very good with the Crab Stuffed mushrooms as my favorite. The lobster bisque was incredible. I followed that up with Prime Rib. It was good but felt like it could've been better, it was just aright. While my son had the Kobe Burger and the members had the Prime Rib Dip sandwich. The Kobe Burger cooked at medium rare came liked he order it with 2 strips of bacon. The kid devoured it. Prime Rid Dip sandwiches were just okay. The service was below average. Wanted to split the bill for 4 different groups but the waitress said she could only do 3. C'mon. She could've done 4. Well the 2 parties that had the combined bill, had to pay with credit cards. So after 20 minutes with the waitress trying to figure it out and getting it correct she ended up losing 15% of her tip, which they usually leave 20%. So That'll teach her. Plus she came off as very knowledgeable but didn't want to be there and serve us kind of attitude. Felt very uncomfortable. The busser too. One person in our party spilled his glass of ice water on the table and asked the busier if he could get something to clean this with. He gave him a dirty rag and a serving tray and let that person clean it up himself instead being professional and cleaning it himself instead of the customer. Good food, but outdated decorum and real unprofessional staff. Place would do better with a new updated appearance and friendlier and professional staff. Too bad, I would eat there again if the service is at least better.

Rudy's is a fun gimmicky place that's great for a special occasion dinner. Their food is pretty good and I really am a fan of the daily specials. However their regular menu items are a bit over priced. The clam chowder is probably the best I have ever had. SO GOOD. Do not pass it up. Their prime rib is a very good option especially if they have and end cut available. The cocktails are good but a little small. The staff kind of seems like the cast from the movie WAITING. Go there and you will see. Again, good place for a special occasion but not exactly an everyday option.

AMAZING LOBSTER!!!! Got the 8oz tail, it was huge and tasty, best lobster I have ever had. Everybody else I was with is picky and we ALL loved everything we ordered. Will be going back ASAP, great service too, they really know how to take care of you.

Heard many an advertisement on radio for Rudy's and have driven by many times. Finally went there with some extended family (party of 11). For a place this pricey I think I expected a little more. The average dinner entree is about $25. If you' re going to "dine out" with an appetizer, and drink or two each, etc. two people could hit three figures on the bill. For that price point, I expect prompt and attentive service and pretty darn good food. The service was not as "professional" as I would have liked. Not that our server was too rude, but I quietly joked that she was "a bit of a surly wench." A touch on the gruff side. Perhaps larger parties were not her specialty. The food is not bad. My judgment is again based on partly on price. If Rudy's seafood was served at Denny's at Denny's price point, Denny's would get 5 stars from me. The drinks were OK. My manhattan was not small, but I probably would have been happier if I had called my bourbon. On the bill they listed it with Canadian Club, which I am not sure even meets the legal definition of bourbon - but I am not a CC fan regardless. It was a good sized martini for less than $9. My wife and I had the escargot appetizer. For the most part I judge escargot on tenderness. They actually did a good job on it in that regard. I don't think it needs such a thick panko crust, but it didn't hurt. (I think the best escargot I ever had was at the now shuttered Slocum House several years ago.) Another reviewer here said the clam chowder was light on clams - he was right but I thought it was still pretty good. Nobody at the table ordered the lobster bisque, but I haven't seen anything good posted here about it - they want an extra $4.50 to upgrade to the bisque with your meal. Hmm - makes me wary to try it. I had the lobster ravioli and it didn't suck. One thing to remember is if you want to feed your lobster jones, you need to order lobster, not lobster wrapped in pasta. For a lobster pasta is was pretty good. The lobster sauce was a bit light on lobster flavor, but it was good. My wife and a couple of others had the stuffed salmon. I tried a bit of that and found it pretty good - I may order it if I ever go back. We mentioned as we were leaving the parking lot that they don't seem to do a lot to the food. Flavors are simple. I often appreciate this as I want to taste my fish, not some pretentious sauce or or a mix of bits with french names. I am not a foodie. The lobster and prime rib dinner was served to one of our group at the other end of the table. Looked good from where I was sitting. :) Once the food started coming out, it seemed that we waited quite a while for it all to get there. I think Miss Manners says that at some some point it's OK to start eating even if they haven't brought out everything to everyone, but most people like to wait for all of it to arrive. Most restaurants know this. We were there a bit late and the place was not busy at all. It would have been appropriate for our server to enlist the help of someone else to get 11 entrees out in a timely manner. I am not ripping the place, but it fell just slightly short of my expectations. Not so far short that I would tell others to stay away. I will probably give the place another try later to see if they can do a bit better. A-OK for now.

Have heard about Rudy's Hideaway for years. Finally went to celebrate my 30 years with the company I work for. Had the lobster tail with prime rib. Ordered prime rib medium & it came rare. They took the same piece of meat back to kitchen & cooked it a bit more. Was finished with my lobster and full by the time it came back. The food was good, service good, ambiance so-so. It was a decent meal but nothing extraordinary which you would expect based on the price of food. Service was "okay", food was good. I'd heard so much about this place & like I said, it was good. Just nothing special. Was disappointed. Those who ate with me felt the same way. I asked them whether or not they'd come again and they said "no" which I agreed with.

Wow, were we dissappointed - both Food and Service. We have eaten at Rudy's many times in the past and the food has always been really good. Haven't been in awhile, but decided to take the family there for New Year's Eve... Arrived right on time for our 6pm reservation with my wife and our 2 kids (4 and 11). Place was mobbed and reservatiosn were running - they said 15 miuntes behind - was more like 35. Once we finally got seated - the menu was a special menu for New Year's Eve - no biggie, everything I would have wanted was on that menu...except for dessert. I have the 14oz Lobster Tail and the wife had the Prime Rib and Lobster. The Lobster Bisque soup was fantastic and so was the Clam Chowder my wife had. When our main dishes finally arrived, I have to say I was very disappointed. The lobster was big, but cold and the Prime Rib was WAY TOO fatty! The butter was not served in a warming dish so that was clod too. Only thing good was the Crab Legs my older daughter had. The desserts were skimpy - our meal came with a small cookie and 2 petit fores...hmmm - I remember them having way better desserts on the regular manue and this is all they could give us...yuck. Now, it wasnt even the food that was not worthe the money we paid - nice thing was they at least removed the Prime Rib from the bill when they saw my wife hardly touched it and we told them why. However, the service was also horrible. We never saw our waitress, had to wait eons when we finally caught her and asked he for something...just downright a bad experience for New Year's Eve and not what I was hoping for. We will give them one more try on a non-holiday night - maybe it was just limited menu - bulk cooking - and alot of people, but one more chance before we cut them loose as a favorite.

My wife and I ate here on Christmas day, 2012. She ordered an 8 ounce Lobster tail, and I ordered the Filet Mignon. The food was great, the clam chowder was superb, and the service was outstanding. Michael was our server, and he was professional and personable. We were treated wonderfully by management and all members of staff. We will definitely be back. This wasn't our first time here, and it definitely won't be our last! This place compares nicely with Captain Jacks in Sunset Beach, California.

Took my husband for his Birthday it was our first time there. Not very many tables but the service was super slow. We got there at 8Pm and we were starving it took the server 20 minutes to take our order. They served us bread and it was not very good. Appetizer took another 20 minutes calamari was heavily fried and not all that tasty, soup came out shortly after that and the clam chowder was excellent. Our entrees however took at least 35 minutes from when we finished our soup. We were falling asleep by the time it arrived. I had the breaded shrimp and they were good my husband had cippino and was not impressed. It cost about $28 and it was a very small portion. The atmosphere is like being in a double wide trailer. The single bathroom right off of the dining area is like an airplane restroom. We ordered mud pie for dessert and they were out. It is the only dessert my husband likes but I said its your birthday we have to get something. He ordered a dessert the server recommended but it was not very good. I was quite surprised that they charged us for his birthday dessert. We did spend $85 on our dinner they could have thrown in a $6 dessert. Any other restaurant in town would have and we would not have had to wait forever for our dinner. Not impressed overall I might go back for a lunch but not dinner.

The staff is rude. The portions are getting smaller and smaller. My salad was full of brown lettuce and green tomatoes. I am doubtful that I will ever return. Also doubtful that if I do decide to return there, that Rudy's will still be in business. Next time I want seafood and pasta, it'll be Chicken of the sea and Chef Boy Ardee.

My first time here was for an anniversary lunch and I was completely disappointed. :( I had this notion in my head that this place would be absolutely delish, but to my dismay it was the opposite. First the place was nearly deserted and still the service was poor. Second, food was cold, bland, and hard. I had the 5oz. lobster tail and sad to say that it was completely overdone! Literally, I mean it was hard and cold. I think what happened was that they cooked the tails first, then freeze them until someone orders one, then they steam them with the veggies, and send them off to the customer. Another issue with this entree was the string beans. The string beans were overcooked, the heads weren't snapped off, and the string that run vertically up the side of the beans were not removed, which annoyed me because it came out while I was chewing and felt like a hair in my mouth. My boyfriend had the fisherman's platter which consisted of fried shrimp, clams, and calamari. We swear there was no clams in there! And the whole thing was not better than Long John Silver's (fast food) platters. Needless to say the whole experience was a failure and I definitely won't be back.

Very disappointing. I love seafood and my husband had really built this place up to me. (when I think great seafood, I think Scoma's in SF) I was so excited to try their fresh lobster. I ordered the 8 oz lobster tail and the "center cut" top sirloin medium-rare. We started out with a glass of wine and a cup of clam chowder. The chowder was pretty good. When our entree arrived, the plate had a lovely presentation, but to my dismay the lobster was like rubber and the steak came butterflied?? Who the heck butterflies a medium rare steak?? Worse yet, it was so tough! I could barely penetrate it with my fork! At first I thought maybe the waitress had misunderstood and had it cooked med-well, but sure enough, it was reddish throughout the center. The one bite I tried had ZERO flavor and I had to remove it from my mouth. The garlic potatoes were mediocre. The cream brulee was marginal and I had horrible indigestion that kept me awake the entire night.. Honestly, I've had better meals at Applebee's and Macaroni Grill. My guess is that this was once a great place, but something must have changed to make it go downhill. It needs one of those restaurant shows to do a rescue!

The name says it all RUDE! Owner Julie Ryan was absolutely insulting towards my family. She also made a horrific scene and example of herself in front of other patrons! She also refused to seat us, and told us to leave. I will not be back, I hope others follow. Their are much better places to give business too. Thank goodness old spaghetti factory and sheep herders are close by. I hope this place does not remain in business! I will spread the word of my horrible experience at Rudys where my family has patroned in the past!

My friend and I came here for the $14.95 Thursday night lobster special. I started the meal with clam chowder. Nothing out of the ordinary, but it had big chunks of clams. I ordered a baked potato with my lobster. The lobster was pretty small and on the chewier side, but that's what you get for 15 bucks. My friend didn't like her rice pilaf, but I thought it was pretty good. Nice, friendly service. All in all, we got what we paid for. It was a decent meal and we left satiated.

The Thursday $14.95 1lb Maine lobster special keeps me coming back. The menu says it comes with french fries or coleslaw, but generally your server will let you chose any side you want. I always go with the mashed potatoes. I strayed once and got the rice pilaf and oh my, it was salt overload. If your taste buds aren't sensitive to salt or you just love salt then go for the rice. The service here is really good. If you're not used to gettin' down and dirty with all the lobster cracking then the kitchen can bring out your lobster ready to eat for you. I prefer to wear the lobster bib and use my hands :) Since the lobster is on the small side we generally order an appetizer to go with our dinner. I've tried the calamari and stuffed mushrooms - both were decent. One of these days when I have $50 or so to spare, I really want to try one of those ginormous live lobsters in the tank. They are huge!

There is nothing wrong with this restaurant, exactly. My friend and I enjoyed a tasty dinner in a quiet environment. However, nothing stood out in a good way, and the whole place feels about thirty years out of date. Service was excruciatingly slow, and the food was on par with what I prepare in my own kitchen. We won't be going back.

Our server, a courteous woman in her 60's and who reminded me of my brother's 6th grade teacher, made our Tuesday night dinner a pleasant experience. Attentive, but never overbearing, she seemed to know when to cater to us. We helped ourselves to the basket of warm rolls first. After the soup my mom and brother ordered and my salad, a small plate of pasta with meat sauce is served. Our server substituted an alfredo sauce for me since I don't eat red meat...nice touch! My main course, lobster ravioli (yes, I love my pasta!), along with my mom's steak and lobster and my brother's buffalo wings (he wanted an appetizer for his entree) arrived thereafter. Neither my brother nor my mother had any complaints about their food, but I barely tasted the lobster meat in my ravioli. I investigated the ravioli filling to make sure it was there, but the presence of the tender meat was totally absent in my mouth....I think the sauce completely drowned out the flavor. It really was too creamy. My mom delighted herself looking over the dessert menu, and was surprised by the chocolate mousse our server placed in front of her after my mom jokingly stated she was celebrating her birthday...her birthday took place two months ago...here's the best part: the server knew that! I really liked our experience at the restaurant and I give a lot of the credit to our waitress; the unique paintings displayed on the walls also piqued my interest. However, I wasn't impressed with the food except for the warm bread in the basket. And for a hefty sticker price, I ought to be able to taste my lobster!

On Saturday, Novemeber 30 at about 7:45PM we tried out Rudy's Hideaway Lobsterhouse. Having heard rave reviews from a number of trusted friends we waited at the bar inside to be seated for around 15 minutes until the bartender finally asked for our drink order (there were only 4 other customers with drinks there). My BudLight (on tap) was warm and her Midori Sour was overly sour. After being seated at a table it took 41 minutes before just our salads arrived (I actually looked at my watch). Later when our entrees showed up my Filet Mignon was very dry and tasted old. My Lobster Tail (5 oz.) was rubbery and cold. Her entree was the Cioppinno and it was barely there. The restaurant was nearly empty during our stay and yet we experienced vacant service. When our waitress asked us how everything was I didn't have the energy to get into it with her and asked for the check. Dinner was extremely unpleasant and we will not be returning nor recommending this place to anyone. - Mark N.

I don't go to many lobsterhouses. Why? Because I don't like seafood. Fortunately, Rudy's also serves a bit of delicious cow. I once got a hamburger for lunch here. It was wonderful! I think it was the only time I've ever brought home leftover hamburger with the intention of actually eating it! (although I did end up throwing it out like most of my leftovers) More recently I came here for dinner, and had the Prime Rib special. It was a 3 course meal for $20, or something like that. The prime rib was delicious, but perhaps a little small. The perfect size for me, but I imagine others might want more. And I think this was the second time I've EVER had dessert after a meal, but I only ate a bite or two of my chocolate mousse. How do people eat so much? The decor is wonderfully tacky. The tables have sand and shells under the lacquer, and the art is horrendous, complete with ridiculous price tags. Our waitstaff each time were professional and elegant. Perhaps too elegant. At the bar there seemed to be a crowd of regulars in their retirement years, complete with rhinestones, glitter, and spandex. It wasn't depressing though, they seemed to really be enjoying themselves. And so was I. So, while I may not come here on a regular basis, I am certainly a fan.

I enjoy seafood probably more than any other type of food, and three times I came to Rudy's and all three times was a bust for me and my friends. The first time I came to Rudy's was with a party of 10. The host avoided eye contact with us and walked away, leaving us standing in the doorway. We continued to deal with this rude behavior until one of us forced the host to notice us. He appeared put off, but agreed to seat us when a table opened up. He left us waiting in the bar area for almost a half an hour until we finally protested (by then, dinner was close to over and the place was clearing out). The host acted as though he had forgotten about us but finally seated our group. The waitress was decent, the food was mediocre. Disappointing experience. I believe in second chances, so the next year the same party of 10 attempted to eat at Rudy's again. We received the same kind of treatment from the host, were seated after twenty minutes, and the waiter was rude. The food was worse than before, but it was very disconcerting when my boyfriend ordered crab legs that were under-cooked. Shame on us for trying a third time the next year. We didn't even make it past the host podium before we were given an unwelcome glare from the host. My party and I felt as though we were undressed for this now "classy" place--something none of us remember as being from the past. He commented that we would have to wait no sooner than an hour and a half for our party of 10. When we asked if we could split our party to make it easier, he snorted and replied, "not a chance." There will be no fourth time coming to this place. The mediocre food is forgiven in the light of the horrible hospitality we have received for the last three years coming here. No one appears happy when doing their jobs, and the hosts are downright rude. Never again.

Thanksgiving Dinner Disappointment. The service and prices were good enough, but if a restaurant is going to offer a turkey dinner for Thanksgiving, it should be done well, even if not great. Rudy's was neither. Perhaps I should have gotten a clue when all the good restaurants were booked up for Thanksgiving, but Rudy's was able to seat us easily! I would think that a restaurant with Rudy's reputation and standing would be embarrassed to serve pre-cooked deli meat and call it a turkey dinner, but that's what Rudy's brought me, unashamedly. If this had been served to me at a diner, I would say that's what you should expect. But not at a real restaurant, charging real restaurant prices. Shame on Rudy's for this. Better they should take turkey off the menu for Thanksgiving than to bring such an abomination. To add insult to injury, the turkey was served with a thimble sized cup of canned cranberry sauce. WTF? My wife had the lobster tail and it was "OK". But we won't be going back.

Came here for lunch yesterday for a retirement lunch. The place is a little bit different then I remember. Then again I havent been there in probably 8 years. I am trying to be somewhat healthy right now so I can look super duper sexy for the summer time so I really didnt order anything super awesome(which sucks something fierce). I ended up ordering the chicken sandwich with a side salad. It was pretty good. Couldnt complain. Service was actually pretty awesome considering we had 24 people in our party. You know what? I noticed they had happy hour there so that is on my agenda next to check out. Have no idea if they have good drink/appetizer prices but I will find out and post an update.

Had our anniversary dinner at Rudy's. I can honestly say that this is one of the best dining experiences we have ever had. The manager, Mark was awesome! Seated us, and checked in with us to make sure we were ok. Jason, our server was on point! Took care of our every need. Food was delicious, had the beef barley and the clam chowder for starters. Had the pasta, calamari and cheese bread for appetizers. For our dinner, we had the 18oz lobster tail and captain's cut of prime rib. The perfect ending for the night....creme brulee and bananna creme pie. AWESOME! The ambiance was awesome. Nice music and the decor was just like being on a boat. Definitely going to be back here soon! If surf & turf is your thing...don't miss out on this place. A+++++++

Let me start with the positive: the service was excellent. We had a party of 12 and the waiter was extremely nice and funny. That's it for the positive, now for the negative... The food was just ok, which really means it was bad because the price is high. I got the seafood Louie, which was the best thing to order there. Most everyone else had lobster ravioli or scampi. The portions were small for a seafood place and after a quick taste of everyone's dish, I and my guests were not satisfied. One person did order the prime rib, which he was very satisfied with, but still pretty skimpy portion size for the price. We will not be going back, will advise all friends and fam to to go somewhere else for better value.
